Obviously has been farted in. Windows probably broken with no ETA on OE replacements from Stellantis, so it goes to be parted out.

Hmm - the VIN is pretty clear on the door jamb, maybe someone will look it up and try to figure out what the history is.

No way to be sure, but it appears to be a track car if the recovery hook is any indication. A guess would be that the engine gave up due to low oil. With the cost of an engine rebuild, and the impossibility of finding parts, someone probably figured it is easier to just toss it than to try and fix it. If someone buys it, I'm sure (if the engine hasn't given up) that the parts value of the car is at least $80k. All the body panels look good, the glass looks good, the interior looks really nice.

Definitely curious to see what someone turns up on this one. Maybe it's one of the recall cars and the owner didn't know they could get a engine/drivetrain warranty.

A lot of owners will install the DSE tow hook for peace-of-mind. Just in case you need to load on a trailer or ever have to be towed. (Not just for track use ...and no drilling/cutting to install.)
Your ACR-E is almost impossible to tow/load when the aero is installed without them. (BTW, gorgeous car!)

In any case, I'm also curious as to what the damage is on this one.

That's a good point - it's hard to do the sniff test online... It may have been a total loss from flooding, the owner did a buy-back, did a quick clean, and then put it on Copart for online sale. I suppose we'll find out eventually.

Well, for shits and giggles I looked up the VIN and found the original window sticker (VIN: 1C3ADEBZ3DV400293). Something popped out at me when I was looking at the pictures. Parts of the car are painted black when I'm 99.99% sure they should have been body color. So, I found the window sticker and sure enough, it is a 2013 GTS, optioned just like the one in the pictures, but was sold as a black car.

So, someone resprayed the whole thing, or decided to wrap it all in white. Maybe that's inconsequential, but even at a seemingly low price of $89k, that would really make me wonder about the history of the car.

Anyone else have questions about the VIN as presented?

Not that it's my place, but I'm hoping nobody jumps onto this thing without knowing more about it. I'll admit that putting a "buy it now" offer in for $79k seemed like a fun thing to do. But, I have no idea what lurks beneath the surface. It could be worth it for the parts, or to save in a storage unit, but it could also be a nightmare. It could be a great deal, or it might not - very hard to say. Hopefully someone in the Houston area can look at it, sniff around, start it up, and see what it's all about. I wish I could - but that's not in the cards right now.

I've bought salvage cars at auction and they worked out great - but I was able to look at them and hear them (and see if any smoke was flying out the tailpipes) before bidding. I actually missed out on a '97 B/W GTS that my next door neighbor out bid me on back in '99. It sounded like crap, so I gave up on the bid. He ended up getting it for $5k, and drove it home. All it ended up needing was a good alignment, driver's side sill, new driver's door, new underside paint, and new exhaust (that's what sounded like crap - it was all crunched up). He did those things and turned it around in a few days for $25k and he never looked back.

I'm too old to screw with things like that anymore. But, those were fun days.

Why not call Tony Spampinato at Venzano, 248-674-7400? Maybe he could recover it for you.

My question about the VIN was due to the fact that Carfax rejected that same VIN on 3 different attempts. Today, same VIN works. While I have no interest in the car, I was curious about its history.

It was a buyback in October 2015 for the following stated reasons: "VEHICLE REACQUIRED
Vehicle reacquired by the manufacturer pursuant to applicable state consumer warranty laws or to promote customer satisfaction.

Reason provided by Manufacturer:
Radio has static
Can't fill tank with gas
Check engine light is on
Runs rough
Engine misfire".

Service reported Oct. 2015:
"Vehicle serviced
Radio/sound system checked
Radio/sound system (re) programmed
Drivability/performance checked
Clutch replaced
Flywheel/flexplate replaced
Clutch checked
Fuel system checked
Electrical system checked".

Accident shown as "minor" to right front/side...vehicle had to be towed...but no airbag deployment.

Another report of damage in Jan.2023 with no explanation listed on Carfax.

4 owners listed.

Hope this helps someone.

In case someone is interested in a little history on 1C3ADEBZ3DV400293 , I did capture 2 eBay listings in 2019 and 2020. Unfortunately, I did "Print to PDF" at the time, and the formatting cut off the last word or 2 of the lines in the seller's description
