Replacement Door Speakers Recommendations

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to reintroduce myself. I used to post on these forums all the time (and the VCA ones before) as a viper fanatic, and now luckily, I am an owner of a 2004.

So my drivers side door speaker is out. I have 0 experience with car audio. From what I read replacing these speakers should be straightforward. Reading online, our dimensions are 6 inch but finding most replacement speakers are 6.5 inch? Any recommendations on what speakers to get and if cramming a 6.5 inch speaker is ok?

The Polk DB651s is a drop in replacement. Harder to find these days but it’s an option.

You also have to be concerned about depth and the window when it’s down.

I have a set of the Polk's for sale that I removed from my Gen IV before trading it in. They are a direct fit and much better quality than the factory door speakers. Make a decent offer and pay the shipping if you are interested.

If I didn't just do this to my GEN II i'd do it to my GEN IV. Head unit is where I want to start. The idea of having bluetooth and APPLE Car Play is intriguing. :)

Adding a head unit with a nice display + Apple Car Play (or Android Auto if that's your thing) is probably my favorite mod I've done to my Gen 4. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. You gain so much functionality - the ability to stream music and having access to up-to-date navigation are really nice options to have, even if you don't use the car all that much. It makes me smile every time I look at it.
