View Full Version : Harness hole thru the stock seat
Has anyone had a hole cut in the seat for the crotch strap of a harness? I really like the stock seat however I would be better secured in there if the crotch strap came thru the seat rather than around it. I want it to look like it came from the factory that way not a hack job
Thanks

The crotch strap needs to be fed from the gap between the top and bottom parts of the seat if you are going to put harness with the stock seat, not from the front of the seat.
I can grab a pic if that doesn't make sense.

I have seen that done on a C7 Corvette seat. I am not sure how safe that is and there's got to be a lot going on under there like electronics etc.
I am assuming you have the Team Tech harnesses? I still had to brace myself with my legs even with the Team Techs. I think the best solution is just to get different seats like the Tilletts.

Hawk, on my old stock seats, I just had the sub straps go between the seat back and the seat bottom. Worked well for me.

If you are using 6 point harnesses there is no need to modify the stock Viper seat. The stock Viper seats have two slots at the rear of the seat cushion that the sub straps are meant to pass through. After they pass through the slots they would attach to a bar installed to the rear seat bolts. You sit on the sub straps and the triangular piece comes up between you legs.
I never noticed the 2 slots in the bottom of the seat, I was running it between the upper and bottom sections. I’m a horses ass! That looks like it’s a much better installation
Thank you

If it makes you feel any better, it took me about 2 days to find the openings for the sub straps when I was installing my harness haha. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it. Haha.

Does anyone know how long are harnesses certified for? Will Teamtech re-certify them?

Harnesses are good for 3 years...current year, plus two more.
To recertify them it's about $350-425 depending on the belt configuration you have.
