Day 2 a few years Behind the scenes of an open test day track car build

Customer drove the car around for 1-2 weeks after receiving it and then immediately installed every go fast part we mfg for the 5th gen viper. He then ran the car at open track events up and down the west coast having a good ole time. Oregon raceway park the car was the third fastest car ever at the track which was a huge surprise; He was putting the spurs to it but still left some on the table. Sonoma raceway it ran consistent and easy 1:39 but kept getting the meatball 103db+. Running 1:39 lap times at Sonoma without a proper cage you are living on barrowed time so getting the meatball was a probably a sign. After Sonoma the idea of street car/ open test day car really got some momentum. Some motor problems at a west coast racing inc event ( west coast racing inc great people to work with, fun track days) at willow springs was the final sign .....;We got the green light for the 5th gen viper street car/open test day car build.

Lol, these cars are so awesome. I consider myself extremely fortunate to be able to have one at all, but man it would be amazing to do a build like this.

Incredible shots. That looked like a Porsche Cup car he was ahead of in the first shot. I looked up the fast times at Sonoma and was surprised to see the cars it was as fast as, faster than and some that were a few secs faster. Everything that was as fast or faster, outside of Darius, was a GT4 or higher race car.

Its faster than some cup cars as well, driven by pros. Also about 3-5 secs off a 488 GT3. Pretty impressssssive snake. I can only imagine what it will do after the full TKO treatment.

The Porsche in the pics is a 991 GT3R we ran a few years back in PWC, PCA and Pirelli west; Very similar to porsche cup car ,little more tire, aero and tech. Pic with porsche was private test day up at Oregon raceway park. We had both cars go out together for a little cat and mouse action; The drivers and crews could also talk to each other so alot of radio chatter. The viper held its own..........viper was whole lot easier to work with to.
Our customer is talented driver with racing experience so the lap times reflect that; Not sure how much we can improve on that 1:37 at Sonoma but safety will be a huge improvement when the car is done.
