When I got my 2004 Viper, it only came with one keyfob. I wanted a spare so I bought an aftermarket one and programmed it according to the instructions here: https://www.keyfobprogram.com/2004-dodge-viper-remote-programming/.

I made one mistake and did not do Step 4 which led to my new aftermarket keyfob being programmed while my original factory keyfob no longer works. I am now attempting to go through the procedure again to get both keyfobs working but I cannot enter Programming Mode (Steps 2 & 3).

Has anyone else had this issue? What is the solution?

No, I have not faced the situation that you describe on a Gen III.

On Gen I and II Vipers, once programming mode is open, you have to program ALL fobs in fairly quick fashion. Could it be the same on Gen III ?? If so, I would be surprised since the manual say program "all new fobs" without mentioning old fob.

You might try the alarm reset switch we discussed on the outside chance it may play a role. Also, that switch is a good thing to check periodically.

If you are still having trouble, we can TRY to program both fobs with my DRB III at the next meeting.

Are you using the original or new fob to try to enter programming mode? You should be using the new one now.

Yes, he is using the new fob now.

It MIGHT be worth disconnecting the battery for a few minutes.

Thanks guys. I used the alarm reset switch under the driver's side mirror (it worked with no problem) but it did not solve the issue.
