What were some of the engine specs on those cars...hp tq..and I see a system on top of the intake in the picture above with the blue X brace across it. Carbon fibre. What is that? Any information from anyone on these motors and headers exhaust set up etc....

850 HP , dry sump. The CF intake was only for the ORECA cars iirc. Later on the sanctioning body changed the rules and they had to lock out 2 cylinders. Aside from the very 1st Viper, they are the only Vipers to have 8 cyl.

What are the ducts on the top of the rear quarter panels for? Also , I see some rods connecting the front splitter to? What are their function?

The ducts in the rear glass above the rear quarter panels are the fuel cell filling points, if you look on page 1 the 53 car is being refuelled in the pits at Le mans and you can see the fuel lines attached :)

The additional rods holding the front splitter are doing just that, the car creates additional down force and the rods are stopping the front splitter from folding under the front of the car :)

Thanks for that information. Does the splitter not go right under the car about a third of the way under the engine? that would not fold under any circumstance would it when its a large piece like that?

The ducts above the rear quarter panels can be used for differential cooling purposes. At high speeds the load on the front of the splitter can cause it to bend towards the track, the splitter cables allow for some flexibility, but act to keep the splitter off the deck. The attached pic shows the set up on my car, the difference being the GTSR does a better job of hiding said cables.

C32 & C33 the car shown and its twin reside about 90 min from me locked away. Such a shame. There are 3 GTSRs in So Cal that I know of. One is owned by a So Cal Club member and sees the track regularly. BTW-What diffuser are you running on your GTS?

My diffuser is the Autoform 4 blade, it uses exactly the same holes and screws that are used to hold the rear bumper, so there is no extra drilling involved and no damage done to the rear bumper if for any reason you decide to remove it or need to do any form of work on the car :)

What were some of the engine specs on those cars...hp tq..and I see a system on top of the intake in the picture above with the blue X brace across it. Carbon fibre. What is that? Any information from anyone on these motors and headers exhaust set up etc.... Oreca in France at the time lead by Hughes De Chaunac did it all including the engine which produced over 800 HP prior to restrictors. The X brace is for chassis stiffening but unbolts easily for engine access.

One of my best experiences with the Viper Club. The Mazda box overlooking turn one at Laguna Seca during the ALMS races. This is the rolling start, the viper started third, by the end of turn 2 Olivier Beretta had passed the two corvettes, he went on to win.

Thats a whole different panel. GTSR has a wider body then a Gen II street car.

Interesting to see the photos on this link. Never thought the GTS-R cars were, for the lack of words, sloppy, in a good way of course, but the lights being riveted ( I think) the modifications are done to work not to impress ( I get it of course). Overall though, they are a work of art. Something you just can't stop looking at. Thus why I am trying to build my car as close as possible to it.

Indeed.

From what I remember, Nadine told me that car above is C21. Notice no seats, gas pedal, different side exhausts etc. It's more or less a show car but I think the SRT crew at Riley uses it for pit stop practice while the #91 and 92 are being worked on now a days. The Daytona winner resides at WPC.

Just to think the original 96' coupe concept, the SRT GTS-R concept, and the Daytona GTS-R had all been shipped to VOI 12 at the same time. I had a damn near heart attack every time I walked into a room. The GTS-R is what made me love Vipers.

Wanted to add this to the thread, while not a complete car I have this piece of the #92 GTS-R. It's signed by Tommy, David, and one other driver. I got it from a friend of mine who is also a photographer and worked the ALMS races. He was shooting the cars during practice at Road Atlanta and the 92 ate the wall. The corner worker ran out, grabbed the piece and gave it to him. After getting it, he went back to the pits and had it signed. Believe it was the 2000 season.

I knew he had it for years sitting in his basement. Back in April-May he put it up for sale on ebay. I was flipping out and we worked out a deal for the auction and he was going to bring it up for me since he had to pick up a car in Philly. Unfortunately the deal fell through and he never made it up. In the summer he got a gig with Black Iguana and they sponsored Erica Enders Pro Stock Camaro. The Idea of the thread was for it to be a historic reference for anyone trying to restore a GTSR or someone like me wanting a look a like :) What is frustrating is when Users of Photobucket/flickr do not allow photo sharing or remove the pics after I have found them.
There are a load of pics on Flickr posted by SRT but sadly I can not paste them here as they do not allow sharing.

I just thought that with the New Club it would be great to have all the photos in one place and for people to see the great colour graphics that race teams used and of course there is a great deal of history, there are pictures of Vipers out there which are converted for the NARRA, but I have not included those cars as they are not True GTS-R Factory cars :)

Marks already posted some of Bjorns photos above, here's the link to the full set Bjorn took of the GTS-R at Silverstone. Due to the immigrant / Calais crossing problems to UK, we were lucky to have the cars arrive from Europe to Silverstone. The immigrants are camped at the road side in huge numbers, they throw rocks at the trucks windshields and stand in the way to make them stop, then they cut open curtain sides and try to climb onboard the trucks with the race cars. Any drivers award of the weekend goes to our truck driver IMO.

Just found this thread and it's amazing, thank you for posting. I'm just a regular guy with no special connections in the Viper world, but a few months ago I got on a GTSR kick and spent a few hours scouring the net for any info I could find on the current location of all the Oreca Chassis and even the new GTSR based on the gen V car. I found a spreadsheet and updated with the latest known info with the fantasy that maybe someday I could own one of these cars. If I posted the excel sheet here I bet a number of forum members would have even more knowledge on the whereabouts of these cars.
