Hello VOA! I'm a first-time Viper buyer, but a long-time Viper admirer. My black TA (23/33) was just built and should leave CAAP over the next week or so I hope. I will track the car mostly at Mosport (local home track) and Calabogie, and distant tracks on occasion. I also have an MR2 T and Supra TT that I've tracked extensively over the years, and look forward to a long-term love affair with the TA.

I've met many of you over the last year on the other forum, and have been following threads here for a while as well. I hope to meet some of you at the track and other events, and will post track date threads in advance in case others would like to join the fun!

Welcome Bruce.

You're the only black TA in Canada no? 4 orange TA's. Hope to see you out on most of the events this year. Are you coming out to the April 24 in Bolton at Panagellis restaurant at 7pm ?

Thank you, and it is the only black one, with there being 5 orange actually. I haven't checked into local events yet, but the 24th might be a possibility that I'll check out on the local forum. Thanks for the heads-up!

Bruce, your FIRST Newbee Viper is a TA ?!? EXCELLENT! Your BATMOBILE is a proud score..... I was not even aware that Black TAs were to be made for Canada Spec...

Congrats on 1FASTBAT

and Welcome ...... { After an 18-year hiatus I renewed my race-license in 1993 in an MR-2.... the old wedgie-looking one. }

Bruce, you've found your new home! You'll find the VOA and this forum to be just as welcoming as the Jaguar forum.

I know you'll miss your XKR... or was it too hard to let it go?

Thanks Jon, and yes, there were no black or white TA's allocated to Canada, just 5 in orange. It was late November when I decided to buy a TA, the two orange TA's for Ontario were spoken for, and SRT stepped up to try to find one for me. Mine was originally allocated to Peurto Rico but was cancelled for some reason in Dec. 19th and I got the call the next day. It was changed to a Canadian spec build, delayed its original January build date until end of March to avoid a winter delivery, and that's why it is numbered 23/33, although is likely one of the last TA's built. Can't say enough about how helpful the SRT team has been, including Ralph, the plant manager, and various others at CAAP and SRT.

Funny you should mention Batmobile as I've been trying to decide on a personalized plate and was tempted to use my middle name for BRUC WAYN but nobody would probably have believed it. I'll post what i did decide on once I order it and know it's still available.

And huge props to you for being so helpful putting together an order for 6 point harness, front and back tow hooks, removable front plate holder...and those great looking black floor mats with TA orange accent embroidery!

That's good to hear as that is one extremely tight group of enthusiasts. While i found the 510 hp XKR vert to be exceptional in almost every regard, on both the road and road course, I bought it with the intention of selling it within the 4 year warranty period, which I did. The lack of a manual gearbox was the critical short-coming to what I felt was an otherwise great driving experience, and the paddle shifters just didn't make up for it for me. My wife loved it and would take it to work the odd time and out with the girls anytime. She drove it more last summer and I gravitated to the 6 speed in the Supra TT. It is the perfect GT if you want an auto, verses perhaps the Aston Vantage if you want a stick. Very different type of driving experience to one with super car performance, and it is at least partly responsible for creating the uncompromising and more intensely engaging driving experience that has drawn me to the Viper and TA. And I wouldn't rule out the possibility of buying another XKR if and when we want a luxurious and capable GT again.

Thank you all for the kind welcomes. The factory emailed me two pics of the car being loaded into a transport late yesterday so I expect to get a call from the dealer this morning! There's a pretty good chance though that I'll already be there waiting by the curb! Good timing as I hope to meet some of you at the local club's dinner tomorrow night with it! Looking forward to updating my signature!

We'll be looking forward to meting you Bruce tomorrow night. There will be quite a few Vipers there and I know of at least one TA Orange for sure and maybe another coming tomorrow night. Would be nice to see all three there at once.

If it does not work out timing wise with the car, do show up without it and meet all the gang, as it will be a good turnout and a great day to meet a lot of the members. New and old.
