You just need to pull the center console out and take a look at it. It's a simple ratcheting mechanism, so I'd guess that you have something broken.

Hey JonB, there are a lot of new owners. Can you kindly educate us on the reasons why not to use the “e-brake”. Good reminder for some of us long time members, too.
Thank you sir

The e-brake cylinders won't retract all of the way, causing the pads to be worn down, typically on the inside of the rotor. Before you know it, you'll be metal on metal.

I assume that only applies to the stock rear calipers and not the relocation kits?

The relocation kit is just a bracket, it won't affect how the caliper works.
I think IPSCO makes a mechanical e-brake that would solve the issue.
I never used my e-brake in my Gen IV ACR in 5 years of ownership.

Sorry, the mechanical brake swap is actually what I'm talking about. But I guess that answers the question - this is mainly concerning the stock calipers.
I have a full Wilwood brake kit on my car with an added on mechanical parking brake. I've been trying to do some research on it and its adjustability and I had seen complaints about the mechanical setups not holding the car well and requiring the handle to be pulled all the way up (I have this problem; it will not hold the car on any sort of incline). I've seen others mention using shims behind the pads and also ensuring that the pad spacing to the rotor is even.

Mine held adequately on a considerable slope; but, I wouldn't say that it was as good as the stock Gen 2. The instructions are posted on IPSCO's website.

I guess I hadn't scrolled down far enough on their page to see the link - not sure if mine is the same brand, but I'd assume they all function approximately the same. I'm planning to pull the UCAs/LCAs off the car for new bushings and ball joints soon, so I'll pull the mechanical brakes off and give them a once over then.

Yours definitely appears to be an IPSCO unit, and if you have any issues, contact Mark at IPSCO. He is very helpful and there is some further adjustability of the lever arm position not mentioned in the instructions that he told me about. Mine was a "non-standard" installation also; but, his design did accommodate it. https://ipsco.org/Viper%20Parts/ViperBrake%20Rev%20D.pdf
