cracked from crater pin hole or high frequency pitting compounded by little to no penetration. Easy fix for good welding shop. Stop drill, clean and weld with 5356 rod more penetration or stich inside. Make sure no crater pin holes or high freq pitting.

I actually have never seen that part on a factory viper but you never know sometimes with vipers. It looks like a custom part being that it was TIG welded,. Cracking on welds like that I have seen a hundred times before. If its not structural no big deal shit happens. If its a structural or critical part then you got big problems. Im guessing its not to critical???

We figured it out, it was custom part we had to use with the dry sump setup.

Nice part, yes I have had my hand-built dry sump flywheel cover crack like this before. Replaced it and the same thing started happening. Not a problem with construction, there is a harmonic there that the aluminum doesn't agree with. Solution: use silicone or similar sealant on the area where crack happens to dampen the harmonic and voila, fixed. I learned that when I had brake lines cracking off on calipers. Seems a dab of silicone is all it takes to stop the high-frequency vibes.

Yes, that's not OEM. It looks like someone made a cover to seal more of the bellhousing area that is exposed with the shorter pan height on the dry sumps.

Can you give us a picture that shows the entire cover. That does not look like oem.

Yeah it's a custom part required with a dry sump setup
