Not only better sales results but the fees are really different. I think that BaT caps at 5K for the buyer and virtually nothing for the seller but the other guys impose huge fees for both buyers and sellers. I am sure seller are waking up to this. Why go through the complicated process of having one of these big auction houses represent your car and take a serious chunk for themselves when you can contact BaT, get a photographer to show up and they even write the listing for you. Simple and straight forward. What a concept.

Are you asking about income tax as a seller, or state sales tax as a buyer? The state sales tax would depend on the particular state that the auction was held in. The answer to the state sales tax question is "yes," in Arizona. (Such as sale at Barrett-Jackson at the Scottsdale auction.)

I believe here in cal. no matter were you buy a car you pay the sales tax rate of your address in this state.
Just another reason not to live here.

It's the same in Texas. 6.25% at the time of registration. Doesn't matter where you bought it.

2.9% where I am at in the Rockies. Has some benefits to be away from the madness.
