There's so many Gen 2's going up that I stopped posting them in the forum. Was too time consuming LOL

Not just Viper, other marks as well...

"Not sure the steam is coming out. We are seeing some second tier examples as some folks are hoping to take advantage of the run up in values that has been happening even though their example might not be fully rotisserie restored. We’re down a few clicks in the Hagerty rankings, but maybe at the perfect point for someone who wants a good, honest project"

For https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-alfa-romeo-gtv-2000-23/ that failed to sell. Seller expectations being too high does not equal devaluation. Is does mean the appropriate valuation is being determined.

And when you sell, what do you buy? Everything has skyrocketed. It's like people here in Arizona all of a sudden their house has doubled or tripled in value so they sell, then realize it was a mistake when they can't buy anything similar for the same money. I bought a Gwagon in 2019 and it's worth $70K more now than when I bought it. Same with my Mclaren.

Yep. What a lot of people don't understand, or don't want to understand is that this is how inflation works.

Your possessions aren't worth more, the dollar is worth less. If ONLY your possessions were increasing in value, yes, more valuable...but since EVERYTHING is going up, the dollar is going down.

This country went over a decade without inflation. It forgot it was real. Then we went from 4T in circulation to 19T in circulation in about 8 months.

This chart should scare the shit out of you:

We had an "amazing" (I thought at the time) unsolicited offer on my house about 6 months ago, we were going to jump on it thinking it was gonna change our life, started looking around where we'd move and realized it wasn't that good of an offer. Shit has just gone crazy.

We haven't seen anything yet LOL. Did you see Biden on TV saying how any "ongoing symptoms" from covid are now a "disability", one of the symptoms included "brain fog" LOL. So there's another 10 million people that will never work again. My 40 year old cousin has been getting 3K a month for 1.5 years now, PLUS stopped paying his rent, pocketed it and got it paid for by the government. That's more money than he's ever made in his life. He smokes pot, drinks and plays video games and there's no end in site.

Nah, inflation makes everything look like it’s appreciating, including most stocks. You want assets during inflation and cash during deflation.

So go ahead and buy another sports car. You can’t afford not to lol!

I'm thinking there will be another market crash and recession, thought it was going to happen months ago and no clue how we're still going "strong", once it hits I plan on going into the stock market heavy. I heard a lot of stories about people doing this in 2013, invested around 50k and ended up making millions. Anybody else on this boat?

Timing the market is a bit of a fools game.

Market could run another 50% from here and "crash" 30 to 40%. Were you better off waiting?

I am surprised this car is still sitting at $180K. It is well optioned with all of the carbon fiber bits, low mileage, and apparently new tires. The 10,000-mile Bondurant car sold for $185K a couple or three months ago. Maybe there will be a flurry of bids closer to the close out.

From what i've learned about the stock market and being that history repeats itself (at least with the stock market) is that it will correct. It may not be a massive dip all at once, but at the very least a bunch of small - medium dips that will bring the numbers way down. Correct me if I am wrong, but it's supposed to follow a line that identifies normal growth and with the stock market surging way past the normal line, it should theoretically fall below that line to correct itself, with the DOW going down maybe 7k (from 35k to maybe 28k). Even before all of this super inflation and the pandemic, especially under Trump, maybe half of the people were saying that the market is going to correct and now more people also predict a hard correction. I'm not in stocks, I just learn in school, from people I talk to, and research so I am not an expert by any means and could be completely wrong, but that is my understanding of the current situation.

New tires on a car with 1300 miles? So it was a track car, and has the craptastic three speaker sound system and no sound deadening. That could be a factor.

It's a bargain right now. I'm pretty sure bidding will take it higher.
Don't think there's anyway someone gets away with a car like this for $180k.

Or, it could be an anal-retentive owner that decided to swap out their 6 year old tires. Or both.

Reading the comments in that listing...it's comical (to me at least) that people are worried about a 3 speaker system given the nature of it being a real ACR. I can't believe this is what the Viper legacy has come to. Jesus.

I'll wade into just one value thread, I can't resist.

History shows that the more 'honest' specifications tend to be the ones that realize the highest collector values down the road. The ACR, as a heavily track focused car should come with all the lightest weight options, to elevate that experience as much as possible. Even though the 18 way speakers only add something like 25 pounds, it is all part of the experience.
This one is a real ACR as well (flamesuit has been thoroughly donned, preparing for incoming), so it should be specified for minimal weight. Taking a car that's supposed to be ultra track focused, then weighing it down with creature comforts just doesn't make as much sense as letting it be what it wants to be.

Mine matches this one very closely (same color config, real ACR-E, basic speakers, no sound deadening, interior carbon etc) and I went through those considerations when choosing which ACR to buy to be used both on track and potentially to realize decent appreciation over the years.

I hope the new owner drives it on track plenty and enjoys it how it was meant to be enjoyed. Clearly the previous owner didn't get to enjoy it - there's damn cobwebs in the front fender! I think all of us who can afford these kinds of cars know of better ways to realize greater returns on investments other than cars. I view the future upside to these car's values as an added bonus on top but it won't stop me from enjoying the car how it's meant to be driven.

This should easily be $250K+ when the hammer drops, no question about it.

^^^ Winner! We are well past the point of no return. The economy is too big to fail now.

Take housing as just one example. If the market ever craters, the government will step in and make loans directly. And if that's not enough, they will make negative interest loans, making it where they are paying you to purchase a home and punishing you to save money.

This is the sad future that we have created with runaway inflation, and the 95% that cannot afford to keep up with the privileged 5% (ie the great wealth/class divide).

No one is going to pay more or think your car is more collectable because your car DOESNT have the good stereo. I doubt anyone even cares about the "real" acr or getting to through a different package.

Your car is absolutely beautiful and an awesome car, but it's not because it has a shitty stereo.

I’ve owned both. I had one identical to Carbon Dans. I didn’t think the barebones configuration would bother me I was just happy to have a Gen V ACR-E at the time. Till I lived with it a while. The weight savings is very minimal (less than the weight difference between two random drivers) and the bare-bones configuration sucks for street driving. No sound deadening, no hood pad and the sound system…forget it. That’s why you see so many have the upgraded speakers put in. I did and it helped sell the car. Three speakers you can barely hear any music or Nav…better off duct taping your phone to the dash. Interior noise is much louder. No hood pad the underside looks like unfinished crap. Got some real negatives IMO. Nobody is buying into that “real” ACR nonsense as shown by the sale prices recently. It's definitely beautiful but nothing that makes it a especially collectable. We'll see what the auction says.

I never once turned on my radio in my Gen IV. In fact, I took out the door speakers, and the rear bulkhead speakers and replaced them with the block off plates...

I appreciate the value discussions and frankly its nice to see prices up for now but it doesn't affect me. I want to drive the damn car every chance I get especially the GenV. If I had to put a value on it...I'd put a value on this...

I might as well drive the shit out of it since it's barely an ACR. LMFAO.

Is this an event open to spectators? I don't have the tires to compete, but would want to see some cars (mainly Vipers) go fast.

I guess the bottom dropped out of the plain-ole 2016 ACR market - he only got $262K for this one. The 1300 miles and no speakers probably killed it......

Look up NASA Northeast for track events here in the Northeast area i.e. CT, NJ, NY, PA area...the HPDE programs are open to everyone and a great way to get on the track/learn more about your Viper even with stock tires. Limerock Park hosts an annual autocross shootout whereby they take the top 20 fastest times out of 400+ drivers and invite them to a shoot out in October. There's usually 4-5 Vipers competing in the shootout every year. The auto cross program at Limerock is open to anyone with a car and another great way to learn car control.
