Hey folks,

Just got back from picking up the viper from a PPF installer. The first question asked was "hey where are your floor mats". Hmmm. I look in the car. No floor mats. Since today was the first time I've driven it other than taking it off-and-on a trailer, I have no frame of reference as to whether the mats were in the car when I bought it or not. Did the 2016 TA 2.0's come with specialized floor mats that would be ripe for the stealing? Or did these things just come with cheap-o floor mats and I can buy replacements without feeling too stiffed. I am hoping for the latter (dug around and it seems floor mats were not given in some of the earlier gens).

I saw these and they look great. I wonder if JonB still has some? https://driveviper.com/forums/threads/1977-TA-Black-floormats-with-Orange-Stryker-logo

Another thing: he handed me this bent up hunk of plastic (the splash shield - 68036147AA) and said one of the bolts was missin' and it was hanging down. Are these things prone to being destroyed due to low clearance issues?

Felt like venting a bit after a stressful day, thanks for reading. Cheers!

No floor mats that I am aware of. Yes, the TA2 front splitters are low and susceptible to damage. Must be very careful. Note the splash shield part number indicated it for Gen 4 so not clear what part was damaged.

Good to know about the floor mats. Is that specific to the TA or they just don't put em in vipers at all? It's such a weird thing to have to search for, I've never heard of a car coming without floor mats. I double checked the window sticker and I didn't see anything on there either.

Regarding the splash guard: that number was printed right on it. See pic. So it appears that the Gen V also uses the same part #:

Don't know if the TA's have specific floor mats, but my car came with them, I bought it new.

They all come with cheap maps. Get yourself some nice Lloyd mats and never look back.

I went back and looked at photos taken soon after my 2017 was delivered. There were floormats indeed. But really cheap looking. I must have immediately replaced them with aftermarket versions.

I may be wrong but I think that "splash guard" is actually an aero piece that attaches at the bottom of the front wheel wells. TA 2.0's, with their additional aero pieces, were not supposed to have them. Mine also came with them and I removed them right away. Leave them off.

I ordered nice ones from Lloyd's with stryker logo for my GTS. Even got one for Hatch area. I wish they made ones with ACR logo for gen v's.

Use a heat gun on it, bend it back into shape

I've also heard this. A number or cars with TA aero ended up leaving the factory with these, but were not supposed to actually have them.

I would think that they could add the ACR logo to the Stryker logo, similar to what they do for the Gen 4 ACR. (I don't know if the ACR logo is the same for Gen 4 and 5.) I recently bought Lloyd's mats for a different sports car, through High-End Motorsports. The mats were made to order and took quite a bit of time due to Covid related issues. When I received them I saw that Lloyd's used the wrong pattern, and the folks who run HEM were very good at getting Lloyds to get the mats redone correctly.(It wasn't a common car for Lloyd's to provide mats for.) I felt that HEM is just a family business, and willing to deal with special requests. (If Lloyd's doesn't have software selections to choose what you want.)

Thanks for the info folks. I did end up taking a heat gun to that little plastic splash guard and bent it in place. But neat to know the history behind how some of the TA's shouldn't have had em.

Regarding the floor mats, I guess I'm outta luck, but it doesn't seem like they were anything special. Hoping JonB gets back to me after the holiday weekend to see if he has any of those fancy orange stryker mats.

Isn't that black plastic piece the part that mounts in the front of the wheel well towards the bottom with two push pins?

Yes. Though mine were held by body screws, not a push pin.

New OEM mats for your car around +/-$100 if you want to go that route.. in my opinion they havent held up particularly well.

Are the floor mats in the ACR any different? My stock ones are the thinnest, crappiest looking mats I've ever seen in a car. lol!

Custom /Special Order on the TA and other mats.....

Regarding Mat trivia: 95% of Vipers did NOT come from the factory with front floor mats [as shown on the Monroni.]

Exceptions include SRT special editions, as 1:33 LSE; VooDoo; VOI-10; VCA Editions.

BETTER Viper-dealers purchased Mopar Accessory logo mats (thin-cheap) for $40-$60/set and ADDED them to the naked footwells. A bit of a joke, 'no-mats' were often blamed on Herb Helbig's quest to SAVE WEIGHT AT ALL COSTS!

Trunk logo carpets began in 2004, annoying most 2003 buyers ! G3 SRT tubs are UGLEEE and slippery if uncarpeted!
