Hello all. Was just routinely checking fluids in the car and noticed a slight cloudy whitish floaters in the amber brake fluid. I posted a picture below you can sorta make it out. Time to change and flush or is this normal? Thanks.
Also, the floaters are evenly dispersed. Not pooled in one area.

When in doubt, change it out?

You’re right, no idea why I posted. Maybe just out of curiosity. Gonna change it next weekend.

Wasn't trying to be snarky. Sorry if it came across that way. Someone may have a reason as to why the brake fluid is doing that. Personally havent seen it before. Have you owned the car since it was new? Maybe original fluid thats just getting old?

I didn’t take it as a snarky reply at all haha. No worries. Just was saying you’re right, such a simple procedure to just do and be done with it.
Castrol 12509 or Motul 600?….Recommendation?

SRF if you track it.

Thats a slippery slope. Lol. Lots will have answers for the “what fluid should I use” question. Depends on your intended use with the car. Personally, I use the MOPAR DOT 4 fluid. I rarely track my cars and IF I do, the OEM fluid works just fine for me. If youre gonna be more aggressive with the car, a few track/autocross days a season, a lot of people like Motul.

I am mainly a street driver. I can get aggressive on the street sometimes but not nearly as much as it would on the track.

You'd probably be good with MOPAR fluid then. Should be readily available at your local CJDR store.

How often are you guys flushing the brakes on Street cars?

Regardless of the floaters, the dark amber color means it's probably about time to change it anyway. Should be changing it NLT every 2 years; every year if you use a higher boiling point fluid like the Castrol SRF or Motul 600/660; they absorb water/degrade much faster. Sticking with the Mopar fluid would likely be the best choice if it's just a street car.
Personally, I'd use a vacuum pump, syringe, or turkey baster to remove as much fluid from the reservoir as possible before filling with new fluid and then flushing. No sense in sending old and gross stuff through the system. Saves some time, as well.

Never tracking it? Basically never.
Just use SRF once and don't worry about it. It basically never attracts moisture lol. Every few years is fine. Only reason would be that it can attract moisture and hypothetically increase corrosion.
Cars I track: every six months on SRF.
