A couple years back I swear I read that there was a design study done on there being a Gen V RT/10 and that a pic of it even leaked onto a Reddit forum. Did anyone else ever read that or see the picture? Was always curious on if a rebirth of the RT/10 was ever a possibility later on in the Gen V cycle. Thanks

Yes - I believe there was a clay model done and a shot of a portion of it was even included in an SRT tease at some point (maybe right before the ACR was unveiled?)

I thought it was in clay as well but I can't seem to find that pic anywhere.

THANK YOU!!!! Always thought it would have been cool to make the last 200ish cars be RT/10s as a way of bookending the car. I'm sure that made zero sense financially but would have been cool.

No kidding! I wonder if those pics were taken during the Gen V development when Maurice was writing the book? By now, what would be the harm in showing more "what could of been" pics of a car that is already out of production?

At the time, among other excuses, I remember hearing that it was gonna cost 35 million to retool CAAP for a vert/roadster and FCA didn't want to make the investment. Among other things that were looming over the cars head. In Maurice's 25 years of Hisssssstory book, there is a photo of a GEN IV vert with a different top on it at PREFIX. PREFIX was tapped to help develope a convertible top that could be raised or lowered without having to open the trunklid for the GEN V. I'm not sure where in the timeline that falls vs the RT/10 style GEN V in the pics above. Either way, I think they missed the boat. I had a deposit with Woodhouse the day after we got home from VOI. 12 when Ralph showed us some "ideas" of what an open air GEN V would look like. Wanted one of those cars bad...

For a full tilt “bookend” car they could’ve just left the side glass out and had the guys from jeep fashion a top that would fold up to shove in the trunk. Haha. The costs associated with making cars just blows my mind. A $35 million tooling change would probably never ROI.
