I just purchased an 09 and am in the process of installing a Pioneer stereo with all the bells and whistles. There is a pink wire that it says to connect to CAR SPEED SIGNAL INPUT. This product is connected here to detect the distance the vehicle travels. Always connect the vehicle speed detection circuit. Failure to make this connection will increase errors in the vehicles location display. I have the service manual for the car but can not find anything about a speed signal input. Can anyone help me with this? Thank you.

I'm not sure where to find the info you are looking for. Your best bet is to call someone like Dan Lesser at Viper Specialty Performance...if anyone would know, it would be him.
He's the one that provided this insight into how the vehicle is arranged in my double DIN DIY thread: https://driveviper.com/forums/threads/27849-My-Double-DIN-Head-Unit-DIY-Install?p=433175&viewfull=1#post433175
As explained partially above, Gen-3 is J1850 only, Gen-4 is a Hybrid with a J1850 interior bus, and a High Speed CAN drivetrain bus for PCM & ORC.
The vehicle speed data you are looking for is certainly on the CAN bus, as that is how the iDataLink Maestro displays the info on my head unit. That likely won't work for what you are trying to do though, since the iDataLink unit takes care of finding the info already floating around. That info gets on the bus somehow, and I'm guessing Dan can tell you how that happens.

Why would your car stereo be logging your mileage (spying on you)? I would assume it is for Automatic Volume Control, to reduce volume when you slow coming off the freeway, etc.

Navigation system...my truck's aftermarket head unit (with built in Nav) required a VSS input as well. I know one of the main functions is to lock most of the controls down when the vehicle is moving so you don't keep screwing with it while trying to drive.
The one I'm running in my Viper doesn't, but that's because it's navigation is handled through either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

I am still trying to find where to tap into with this wire. Does anyone know where I can find a wiring diagram for an 08,09, or 10 Viper. I spent $200.00 for a service manual that is on a little tiny thumb drive and it is worthless. Has no schematics, can't search for anything, can't even print or copy anything from it. I have a Gen 7 Corvette and I have a printed copy of the service manual, all 5 volumes. Not cheep but at least it is user friendly. Why did Dodge quit printing them?

I think the radio uses this signal to fill in the blank spaces for position when the GPS signal is lost.
I believe the only speed sensor available is off of each wheel anti-lock brake speed sensor. I wouldn't want to tap into those just to have better vehicle position/speed when the GPS signal is lost.......

I certainly agree with Old School on this. ABS system could possibly be unexpectedly adversely affected!!
