Any tips or ideas on how to get more “thread”?
Short of cutting the carpet out, what are my options?

There are spacers on the bottom side of the bracket, you could potentially remove those.

Doug - Are there extended thread nuts available, similar to lug nuts that have to be used on aftermarket wheels? There is plenty of space as the holes in the seat lowering bracket and harness bar are much larger.
