It will be interesting to see how this tire compares to the Advan A052, Cup 2 R, RE71R, etc.
It is really good news that there are more tire options on the Viper!

Will be interesting to hear the real world reviews.
Is a DOT street legal tire?
Weird ..according to the list of supported cars ..they only fit the GenV Vipers. :witless:

Nice find Joseph, thanks for sharing!
Hopefully it won't heat cycle out quickly like I've heard the Cup 2 R does.
Tread pattern looks like you might be able to flip them on the rims, although that design can compromise performance.

I can tell you two things from it's tread pattern...it's going to suck in the rain and wet, and it's going to be quieter that the Toyo R888R, but not pretty quiet like the Corsa.

Bruce,
I thought you'd find this interesting. Here is how the R888Rs compare to more modern tires that have been developed recently.

These continentals should be faster than any of these options. The 3R tires were developed for the Camaro ZL1 1LE

The actual section width size could be as wide or wider than the OEM tires on the gen V. I wouldn't go strictly on the 355 size.

In addition to width and section, I always like to see O.D. in a sizing chart. Any data on that yet?

I saw this on GRM a couple of days ago...I'm very happy that Continental is coming to market with a real world variety of sizes that will work on the Mustang, Camaro, Viper and Vette chassis.
The treadwear ratings are all bullshit...there is no tire association or government agency to verify or even give data on what this means. The treadwear is what the manufacture wants it to be. Most of the "200" treadwear tires are much softer than you'd expect and usually are labeled 200 tread wear so they can meet a specific racing organizations rules. An example of this would be the Optima Street Car Challenge.
Does anybody actually believe that the Kumho V720 ACR tires that comes factory stock on the ACR-E isn't closer to a treadwear rating of a Hoosier DOT racing tire versus its stamped 200 treadwear rating?

OK - so I would assume that the tire casing and belt package are probably similar to the Contact Sports - likely laid up on the same mandrels. Further assumption is that they simply wrap the casing with the same length and width cover with a different depth and compound, then toss them in the molds for vulcanizing. SO - do we have info on the OD of the Sports tires in these widths and sections? These trackers may be pretty much the same as street tires except for maybe 1/8" to 3/16" less OD and a few more revs per mile.

And to even further "complicate" things....BFG makes the g-force Rival S 1.5 which has a 200 treadwear and is very popular in the Optima series. But there are serious rumors that the top sponsored BFG drivers get "special" Rival S 1.5's that they use to run the event and must return the tire to BFG at the end of the event. So even these 200 treadwear tires have ringers mixed in where the times are substantially faster than others running off the shelf Rival S 1.5's.
The Kumho V720 ACR became the hot ticket in the Optima Series but apparently they were too fast against the major tires sponsors of the event and they were banned even though they were 200 treadwear rating.
The new Eagle 3R's are excellent...especially considering the weight of the Camaro platform and how they handle that weight. I wish they had the same size offerings that they Continentals have listed. Obviously Goodyear likes the Camaro and Vette market more than the Viper market, lol.

See above, few people believe the V720 is a #200 tire. Extreme wear indicates more like 60F - 100R !
I think the Hoosier-Conti DNA blend bodes well for these new C-Force tires.

We’re still over a month away from the official launch date of June 1st, for the new Continental ExtremeContact Force. The exciting new tire is a competitor in the Extreme Performance Summer tire category, though it’s not designed to compete ... for the fastest lap times. The ExtremeContact Force focuses more on longevity, sacrificing some outright speed in the name of longer life. TireRack haven’t had an opportunity to drive the tire yet, but Continental says they used the Hankook Ventus R-S4 as the benchmark competitor during development. The Continental/Hoosier team has used the ExtremeContact Force for several ChumpCar races with satisfying results.

Thanks JonB, these are probably going to be a buy. Do we think the 315/30-18 will work for us without TC/ECS/ABS issues? That would be nice to go a little bigger than OEM for the fronts. Can you share Diameters when you get specs? OR maybe there is an equivalent tire we expect the sizes to mimic?

Interested. I went with PSC2 on my GenV and love them so far; although in the 345 the section width is noticeably narrower than the Pirelli Corsa 355. I know the Corsa will go about 10,000 miles on the street with my driving habits (hoonigan ish). I had them on my a Hellcat and the 2015 Viper GT Track pack. I switched from them to the Michelin PS4 on my Hellcat and it looks like 20K miles at least and the grip is about the same. Second set of Viper tires I went with Michelin Cup 2’s which may Be more similar to the Corsa, but I haven’t put many miles on them yet. My but dial says the cornering is better on the Cup2, and the performance pages recorded a single 0-60 at 2.9 seconds I have yet to duplicate. Fluke? Maybe, but it happened. Usually I get about 3.4 sec to 60 in the Viper. I guess with my Hellcat I find it interesting the PS4 is wearing better and performing in line with the P Zero Corsa. Gina have to try drag radials on it someday though.

I've seen that chart in a number of places, as well.
It's interesting that TireRack doesn't seem to show these tires at all yet. They had the RT660 listed a month or two in advance last year - I pre-ordered those.
Also weird that Conti didn't try to have them available at the start of the year (when everyone orders their Auto-X tires for the season). Falken made the RT660 with SCCA in mind though, so that's probably why they pushed so hard to have those out right at the start of last season.
EDIT: Continental USA doesn't even show it on their website yet, either. Seems hard to find information about them - I can't find anyone that's even tested them yet.
I know the Corsa will go about 10,000 miles on the street with my driving habits (hoonigan ish).
Good info. I'm shopping for new tires and trying to do a bit of a cost vs life vs performance balance.
I know Pirelli's TW system is a bit more normal compared to others. The 200TW PZero's that were on my Audi wore more like other brands' 300TW offerings. I've been curious if the Corsa's were more like a "200tw" RE-71R/RT660/Direzza Zii Star Spec/Ziii.
Not just G5, but G2-3-4-5

The Conti's are too late to be legal for SCCA street classes this year regardless. This schedule gives us time to test and prepare for the 2022 season at least. Not gonna be a cheap tire, but hopefully they last a decent amount of time to justify the price.

C-F Launch is piece-meal, with only the 18" C-Force Viper fronts managing a June debut.
Smaller Non-Viper sizes debut earlier.
Our good-stuff comes Aug-Sept. And the prices already went up about 3%.

The Corsa wears a lot better than its 60 TW spec would indicate, and pretty similar to the MPSC2s. I drive days to distant tracks in all weather conditions and need a tire suited to that kind of road and track use. Wet performance is huge as I track in the wet as well, but an important difference between these and the MPSC2s is the Corsa doesn't heat cycle out for me. I can sometimes tell when they're about to cord because the grip almost seems to improve. I've gone through a few over the last 7 years and just got another 10 last week. As far as level of grip goes I rather regularly max out the G meter under cornering and braking.4801748018

Corsas came with my car as well and I really liked them. But they don't heat up quickly enough for Autocross and are not legal for Street classes at National events. So I switched to PZero (regular version) to be legal even though they are much worse for AutoX. Finally switched to Kumhos and they are unreal, although still not legal for Street classes they make life much more pleasurable. Ordered another set of wheels from JonB today. Plan to have the new ContinExForces on them. Might throw Hoosier A7 on my old OEM wheels as well and do some testing between the 3. Or I may leave the PZeros on them for a "rain" tire.

seem to get around 16k-18k miles out of my Pzero Corsas (no track use - just interstate to work mostly). But I consider that great for the grip and wet weather performance they provide (without annoying drone). For me they are almost the perfect tire..

Should be fine for street use but I'm not at all confident it will stand up to any kind of track use with an experienced driver at 8-9/10ths for a 20 minute session. That's a very high bar even for very trackable tires.

I'm excited, michelin doesn't care about viper owners and left us with cup2's as the only option for an 18/19 setup. I had to mix mpss and ps2 tires to get the 295/30-18 & 345/30-19 setup. I'm glad continental is giving us another option.

Noisy? I can't even hear my own car when I pass a car on that tire! But I just don't let that bother me ;)
I track with a buddy in a modded C6 Z06. He's a top driver, Randy P. has been a team mate in a few races, and can get everything out of a set of tires. He can do exactly 3 laps with his R888R's before they become greasy, which is exactly how long he can keep oil temps under 300F in the Vette! We run identical lap times in those 3 hot laps, then he cools down, and I do another 12 or more at the same pace on my Pirelli Corsas until the checkered is thrown! Everyone I track with wishes they could run the Corsa, but sadly sizes are limited.

I made an inquiry to Forgeline about the Continental Contact Force sizes a few weeks ago and just received an authoritative reply regarding 18" track tire Diameters:
Size|Diameter|Tread w. |Section w.| Wheel range
275/35-18 | 25.5” diameter | 10.0”TW | 11.1” SW | (9-11)
295/30-18 | 25.0” diameter | 10.9"TW | 12.1” SW | (10-11)
315/30-18 | 25.4” diameter | 11.7”TW | 12.8” SW | (10.5-11.5)
345/35-18 | 27.5” diameter | 12.8”TW | 13.8” SW | (11.5-13.5)
So the rear option is 2 inches taller!

I am pretty sure Dean is referring to us Gen 2 guys getting no rear tire option and gen 3-5 getting both a suitably tall 18in and 19in rear. Also 335/30/18 is a super common tire size for even non viper track guys so it is just weird that Conti decided to make the 345/35/18 and completely miss out selling what is likely a more popular size 335/30/18 to all the corvette, mustang, camaro, and other track and performance junkies. It would have been another option for us guys that compete in 200TW capped classes.

Gen II rear - 335/30/18 25.9" tall
New Conti Contact force Sizes
345/35/18 27.5" (seems like a lot of sidewall)
345/30/19 27.1"
Like you said there are already more options in those sizes from other companies that are tried and true. So it makes sense to me to just fill the gap for the bigger sizes that don't have many options already.

This is true. I guess we need to look at the sidewall stiffener insert to know if it is going to be a problem. The old XGT-Zs on the Gen 1s had really good compounding for the heat, but very soft sidewalls relative to the MXX3 Pilots on the Gen2, which got greasy over about 140F. But they had a very predictable sidewall and much improved G2 suspension. You had to be gentle on the XGTs to make them work - especially on a naturally nervous G1 rear end.
The taller tire will want a lower numeric rear gear.

That seems to be a good street focused tire and it's nice that we are having more daily driving tire options, but we really don't have any 200TW track/autocross focused tire. It's great for you that you don't need anything more than a street tire, but this was the first 200TW tire we were going to have outside of the Kumho (which is banned by SCCA so doesn't really count). Our choices for competition tires are basically only the Hoosier A7/R7, which are amazing of course for events. But they aren't great for driving to and from events. I suppose we should count ourselves lucky they are at least making the 345/35-18 so we can try it out if we really have no other choice. But I'd like to hear if they are worth me buying a new set of wheels before making that leap.
edit: scratch that about the 345/35-18, it is still listed on TireRack, but is perpetually backordered it seems. So no guarantee that will ever be available either.
edit2: Talked with chat again, and the 345/35-18 is also vaporware. Not being made for now. So back to no options for us.

Thanks, but no there isn't. That's a 100TW (tread wear rating) tire. This means it is not allowed for Street class in SCCA events. I get it, most people don't know the rules and don't understand why not just use "such and such" tire. Most people recommend a tire that is not legal for the event, or recommend a street tire that is fine for daily spirited use but not competitive whatsoever in a racing environment. The magic number is 200TW, and even some of those are not good for racing that involves turning.

The new version is Pilot® Sport Cup 2 Connect, and it appears they have adjusted the TW rating up to 240TW from 180TW, but haven't changed the tire performance. So this could be a possible option, although it might not warm up enough on a short Autocross course. I may give it a try though. They do list Viper sizes on their website, so maybe they will be in stock somewhere eventually.

Any Toyo proxes rr track users? How do they stand up to the kumho acr tire?
The Kumho front tires do not have sufficient load rating at speed, that's why the blow out, the Toyo Tires are superior in that regard
If the Kumho fronts had a load rating of 94Y (or higher) they would last longer, as it is they are 90Y (90Y = 1323 lbs (600 kg) per tire), which is easily overwhelmed by an ACR on track.
The rear's are 99Y (99Y = 1709 lbs (775 kg) per tire), they can handle the load, it's too bad Kumho went cheap on the fronts, and such an odd size, however, Michelin makes that size now and 94Y, that's better at least, full set linked below:

So here's the current score on the ContiForce 345's:
TireRack webby is accepting pre-orders.
Called TireRack and they estimate stock of the ContactForce 345's by May 20th or soon after.
Local Wheel & Tire shop said June/July timeframe (via their Continental Sales rep.)
Emailed Continental Tire directly and they said "Unfortunately, there is no confirmed date of availability for this tire."
Considering I've waited this long, can wait thru July to see what shakes out.
If they don't show ..then I get the ExtremeContact Sport+ tires and be done with it (for now).
Having the exact same tire on both the Viper and the Porsche would likely be a cool experience.

If the belt package on the Conti's is anything like the ones on my wife's Cayenne GTS, everyone with them had better be SUPER CAREFUL about road hazards! The OE Michelins never had a flat that I can recall. But the Conti's are just mind-boggling in their lack of resistance to screws, nails and other misc. road debris. In about a year and a half, she's had 3 tires ruined from punctures, and 2 more that were patched. It's at Tire Rack right now waiting on a replacement tire Monday.

I'm not the one you replied to but when I had the Pzeros (on a 4C not viper) they performed slightly better than PS4S in terms of peak grip on track in the dry (never tried wet), but the PS4S was much more predictable/communicative/long lasting. A couple of my friends also had their PZeros chunk really badly during track days.
So overall I still prefer the PS4S by far, imo the slightly better peak grip is moot when you consider the rest of the factors

Thanks guys. The thing is these 4S's are available in 25 section for the front which as you all know is ridiculous. When Kumho came out with this profile for our cars it's was very unusual. Of course they have proven to be a touch fragile as the Ring runs proved. However the 4S's with a higher load rating should be more robust and of course for Michelin to decide to use the 4s in a 25 profile tire for our track oriented cars must suggest they consider it more appropriate than say using the cup 2. I think I'll try a set fir the track.

Friend of mine had that same experience (nailed his tires) with the Michelins on his Shelby GT350. I think they were cup2's but not certain. He went thru 3 tires in a very short period of time.
I Haven't had any such experience with the Conti ExtremeContact Sports on the Porsche ..at all. They've been fantastic in the canyon, mountain roads and streets of San Diego regardless of weather conditions. Only once have they gotten a little greasy. But that was after ripping up the twisties for 2 hours straight (keeping pace with a 2021 CarreraS in front and a 2022 Carrera GTS in back!) and the outside temps getting ~90 degrees. N' that situation was instantly communicated by the Conti's. Probably saved me from having a REALLY bad day. Feedback of comms with the road is GREAT with the Conti's.

Plenty of Porsche track rats have complained the PS4S's are too soft and don't feedback enough comms with the road.

Tread compound is for wear resistance and grip at a given temperature range. Belt package is puncture resistance and carcass stability behind the tread. If the steel belts they use won't stop penetration, we might as well go back to using Polyglass belts like it was the '70s again. At least the tires would be lighter.
I'll check what model the tires are when we get her car back tonight.

maybe so.. but the dynamics and force/weight distribution of a P-Car and Viper are quite different..

michelin PS4S are about the same price as Contis ECS on tirerack. I'll always pretty much chose michelins if the alternative is the same price

Did those teams actually buy them, or were they provided?

edit - my bad.. that was an old results listing from 2019.. looked to quick. but teams have to buy tires directly rom Tirerack and they are branded to make sure no changes..

I hear what y'all are sayin'.
But my Viper is 3200lbs and the Porsche is 3000lbs and in many ways, I think they handle a lot alike.
The Viper has the unique combo of massive torque and massive grip across the power band and can get to the limits WAY faster.
Cool that right now we seem to have the ContiECS, MichyPS4S, MichyCup2, ToyoR888r and maybe just maybe the ContiForce available. Can even get PZero's and NittoInvo's.
Good times. :very_drunk:

R888R still an option too, but I've not heard much good feedback about them recently

I have nothing but the highest opinion of Michelin tires except initial cost.
Hmmm, I hope you didn't just jinx me....I put the Conti ExtremeContact DWS06 in XL load range on my wife's Range Rover Sport about 3-4 years ago as her daily driver. Thankfully no issues or flats. I liked them so much I just installed a set of oversized E load range Continental Terrain Contact HT's on my Range Rover that has a lift kit. This tire has been incredible in its ride comfort and silence. I like them so much that I'm going to put them on my F-350 tow rig.

Just drove about 70 miles on some new tires. Continental Extreme Contact Sport in the factory sizes. Wasn't able to really do too much yet but the grip vs the PZeros is much improved. Granted, the PZeros were original to the car so 9 years old. They also seem to be quite quiet which is a major plus.

Yea I noticed the overall ride quality was greatly improved. I’ve got a stone section leaving my neighborhood and it felt completely different. For a street tire, something I appreciate

yup now can see how bad pirelli pzeros were, they are bad even new. Universally hated by everyone on the 15-17 Mustang GT performance package which they later changed to have pilot sport 4S. That was my first experience with them.

I love mine. Good street manners, plenty of grip, did well at the track for a street tire.

The only thing I’ve found Pirelli is good for is making the odd sizes that nobody else does.

I like their motorcycle tires. lol Probably my top three for sport bike tires. Continental and Metzler also come to mind. Been a few years though.

It sounds like the Conti Force tires in the 345's came and went. (according to both my local Tire guy and Tire Rack)
TireRack says they'll be restocked in January 2023.
Did ANYBODY manage to get 'em for their Viper? If so, how was the ride?

I'd love to see some evidence that they were actually produced in 345 and sold to consumers. I keep an eye on these religiously because I want a set and I never saw them available. Only saw the date get continuously pushed back.
