I wanted something in my line of sight, so with the help of a trim removal tool, I was able to slide the mounts base under the trim for more surface area to stick it on.

With the phone centered on the mount, you block less than an inch. You can position your phone far left on the mount to remedy..

Generally speaking, if I need to be watching my phone I have both hands on the wheel, not having a use for the touchscreen, as I’m watching the Waze app!
