Just wanted to know what the differences between these 2 are. I asked in the past about the Track Package and TA difference but curious how big an improvement the TA suspension is over a GT.
Thanks always.

same as GTS v TA

My 13 GTS track pack has the stop tech 2 piece rotors where the TA rotors are the same size, however have larger annulus and are made by Brembo. The TA Brembo rotors are a little heavier and more track/endurance focused.

The TA spring rates are like 50lbs higher on the TA over the GTS. Also the TA has a different “shock tuning” from the GTS.

The TA also utilizes a solid sway bar where as the GTS uses a hollow sway bar.

TA springs and sway bars are stiffer, rear damper valving is apparently a little different, light SWII wheels, and factory alignment set with more camber that can be done on any other model. Just a sharpening up of all the usual suspension things done when improving track handling and performance. You've said you might only track a couple of days so I wouldn't worry about giving up something on a TA if the right GT came up. Wheels, tires and brake rotors are the more significant upgrades on the TA, but again, any Viper is pretty capable on track. Putting on decent tires is a given, and if you're apt to push it then upgraded fluid and pads is still something you'll probably need.

I found the car. And it's paid for so no backing out. But it is a Viper GTC with the GT package and SW2 wheels. Has advanced aero as well. I may drop on the TA suspension from the get-go and see how it feels with stock brakes. Those are easy to upgrade. But I loved my TA and want that feel.

Excellent! Does it have some features your TA didn't, like 18 speaker, carbon, etc? Does it have the nylon seats or leather? Glad to hear it has the SW2 and advanced aero!

It has a lot my TA did not and I am excited to have them to be honest. 18 speaker stereo, Ceramic Blue sport package which adds a ton of interior stuff, etc. I will try to upload the sticker. The aero is Mopar and was added by the previous owner. The car is in incredible condition, 4k miles, pampered, ceramic coated, never tracked or abused. My kind of baby!!

The forum seems to have a new feel to it and I cannot post photos. Not sure what happened.

This should help you out. What are you trying to do with the car?

You can add the TA sway bars (Same as the ACR) fairly cheaply, but it adds 14 lbs

I will be getting the TA suspension. Think I have that nailed down (hopefully). Then will add the sway bar and alignment when done. This is the spec on the car:

I added the sway bars and alignment to my gts. Made a huge difference. Most of it was probably due to the alignment.

You might want to price out the TA shocks.. Last I checked I think they were like $2800 a corner retail from dealer. I do think there is a used set for sale in the classifieds.

bmwtmx: That sounds like a stunning car! The Ceramic Blue Sport Package adds a lot of nice stuff, as you mentioned. Orange brake calipers!!! Now figure out how to upload photos and get to it!!!!! We need to see your new baby.

Good looking car!

The car is pretty stiff. I doubt the sway bars or stiffer springs would be helpful without added aero and very sticky tires. Stiffer suspension isn't automatically better.

Car looks awesome! I don't think I've ever seen Ceramic Blue before.

If I had a choice I'd go slightly stiffer on the spring rate and compensate in the damper valving. This is what every MCS on a Gen V does as well. When you pull high g's in yours I think you'll agree. (Ignore the 2nd picture)47092

Haha, yeah, sorry about that. I couldn't figure out how to delete that 2nd pic after mistakenly posting it :slap:

I'm really digging that color - well done!

Just took delivery of this car and the color is better in person than in pictures. I've only driven it a little bit as it's not registered but very interesting to compare this to my TA. First impressions, this car feels a bit more solid and quiet which may be the result of it being a 2016 but the additional sound deadening is definitely noticeable. With that being said, the clutch actually feels heavier than my TA which I didn't expect. Maybe someone can inform me if there are any differences between 2014 and 2016 cars.

Otherwise, the interior is absolutely gorgeous and done to an impressive standard. While I loved the bare-bonesness of the TA I am not going to complain about this interior. I used to be a die-hard racer and track-rat having been addicted to the sport from 1998 until 2017 and I always preferred no-thrills simple track/race machines. Now that I spend most of my time on the road I can appreciate how nice this thing is. Nobody who bought a Ferrari/Porsche/Lambo/etc. ever complained that the interior was too nice!

One thing I could notice right away is that it is a little softer and slightly less eager to turn in. This is clearly the setup and I only felt it on the 3 turns near my house. Regardless, I have a TA suspension on the way that I'll install next week or the week after and then get it aligned. This is more for my desire to get my TA back than any real need for the increased performance but when I do track this baby I will be happy. When the GTC program was around I almost ordered a TA 1.0 in Nardo Grey with a full red leather interior and 18 speaker stereo. That's how I wanted to custom spec my car but I couldn't justify the price over a very slightly used TA. Anyway, I nearly got what I wanted with this car and the Ceramic Blue is actually a nicer color IMHO. The only option this car doesn't have that I want is the SRT hood. Maybe someone will total their car and I'll pick up a used one in the future.

Other things to do: needs a clear bra. The previous owner clearly pampered this car. There isn't a nick or scratch or any imperfection anywhere. And that also means the bottoms of the front carbon fiber canards. Showroom perfect.

I am either going to buy a carbon x-brace or paint the current one. Need to decide that one soon.

Maybe an exhaust, but I'll need to do a lot more research.

And another set of wheels/tires for the track as the rubber on the car is definitely for the street.

Any other suggestions let me know!

Regarding the clutch feel, you're not alone! As far as I'm aware, all Gen Vs shared the same drivetrain. When I drove my '14 and '16 back to back, the '16's clutch felt lighter - the opposite of your experience.

That's interesting about the clutch difference. I don't think the clutch is heavy at all on my '14 GTS. The 16+ must feel civic light then. Interesting.

Maybe it's been a while since I drove the car. Spent some time in it today and now all feels good. It's not a light clutch my other cars but it's crazy firm either. Just pretty firm/heavy. Anyway, I missed this car so damn much. Great to be back in it now matter what. Truly one of the best ever.

I remember back at VOA Detroit (2014) when we got to test drive the new Gen 5 Vipers.
Quite a few members stalled out when they first got into them because the clutch seemed so light
and you actually had to give the engine some revs to get it too move. (At least compared to the previous gen vipers.)

After driving the Gen5, I got back in to my Gen2 and thought my clutch suddenly died. lol!
