Got a DSE catch can (single, sealed) for Christmas and started the install today. When I started planning the plumbing, I noticed my PCV valve is not secure in the valve cover. I could unthread it by hand. So, out it came. I cleaned off the old white sealant from the threads and grabbed my service manual to check for the right sealant to reinstall. But, the manual doesn't call for any sealant?? It just says 40in-lb torque. Appears to be NPT thread.
Should I just thread it in dry out per manual? Teflon sealant paste? Seems like Dodge put something on it before as it had white gummy sealant on it, but my manual shows nothing.
Thanks!

Got a picture?

If it is a tapered (NPT) thread, it should have sealant on it.

It looks tapered. I measured .660 at the first thread and .687 at the bottom.

Bonus shot of the DSE can.

Yep, looks like pipe thread.

I'd recommend either teflon tape or paste.

Did the ptfe sealant. Winged the 40 in-lbs, just finger tight plus a snug. All done! Thanks Steve M!
