Anyone ever have ANY KIND of trouble going into 5th while accelerating?

Yes, I have had this issue, need to be as attentive as possible at WOT. It doesn’t slip in like other gears.

Yes I too had problems. Changed shifter. That seemed to improve it

Does it only do it when you aren't really trying to rush it into 5th on hard acceleration?

I had problems with it as well going into 5th. I would track the car and at the top of 4th, i could NEVER get into 5th and the thought of Money Shifting and forcing it made me just stay in 4th gear. I later (7-8 months) had my slave cylinder bearing go out on me. I pulled the trans to be rebuilt and had the clutch and slave cylinder replaced. I did lots of research on this same subject. What I found was that our Gen V car has some issues with the clutch not fully releasing. It showed in my transmission gear wear and the person rebuilding it made the comment as well. My clutch was fine, but the slave was shot, mainly the bearing. I had all this work done at once and the only culprit I feel is responsible is the slave cylinder not fully releasing the clutch. It cost me a good bit to find that answer. I hope you get it fixed!

A Similar thread was on the GEN 3-4 Forum , and some found that going to the Woodhouse poly Engine /trans mount minimised transmission movement under hard acceleration.
And improved shifting .

just thinking of the most simple thing first.. remember the transmission fluid is to be changed i think 3yr/36000 miles.. it makes a difference on shift quality.

Is anyone else's trans a bit notchy? Seems like getting into 2nd and sometimes 3rd under hard throttle is notchy, takes a bit of force to get it into gear?

They can be notchy.. especially when cold.

I personally would never wait till 36,000 miles to change tranny fluid, especially if any track time or plenty of spirited driving. If you do those things you should change much earlier --- easier to go with the 36 month time frame in many situations.

Many who track their Snake will often change after 3 weekends or so.

The clutch in the Gen V was designed to appeal to the masses and therefore it has an extremely long engagement range - great for making everyone feel good about how smooth they can drive their car, but terrible when it comes to a performance application because the clutch will not fully release load from the input shaft until it is ALL THE WAY on the floor. Nobody shifting quickly waits to move the gear lever until the clutch is all the way on the floor.

The only saving grace is that the TR6060 is so good that the synchro assemblies make up for the slack for a while, but are being worked over hard and will wear out prematurely because of it. The synchro assembly on 5/6 is much smaller than the 1-4 units, so it will show it's wear impact far sooner.

Just a spirited upshift. I thought mabey if i made my arm stronger it would be better
