Hey guys,

Please go easy on me but I recently sold my Viper for an Audi. I have this Arrow (now Prefix I believe?) engine controller which I never got around to installing. So it’s new and was never programmed at the dealer. Do people still use these? How much is it worth? I paid $1200 for it. Thanks.

People still use them. Did you have to give Arrow your Vin #?

I did not. Somebody else mentioned this to me. Is it because back when I bought this Arrow wasn’t programming the VIN and mileage themselves but rather instructing customers to get the programming done (along with ETC relearn) at their local dealer? Thanks for the info.

Standard Arrow controller. Needs to be sent back to PREFIX in Auburn Hills, MI to get ECU re-flashed to new VIN. Costs about 150. If you have a 15+, it will cost more due to other changes on the cal side. They are great controllers for sound and feel of the car. Its more raw. And its alive. Its a nice step up before you do a Heads and Cams car.

Only the first time when new any dealer can do it. Once the VIN is in then only Prefix can change it. They later started requiring your VIN to be programmed in before selling them new.

Just curious, for those who bought these new from Prefix with their VIN and mileage programmed into them did they still need to go to the dealer to do the ETC relearn?

It's my understanding that you need to do the throttle relearn. I think I've read on here that these will void engine warranties as well.

I wonder if they need the VIN for this plug and play upgrade.

You can not be sure it was not programmed as we usually had to send in the system with the Vin prior to acquiring. Mark Jorgensen might chimne in here if the time frame in which you acquired this had changed, but I know we had to send some back to Arrow that folks thought were clear.

Best of luck, but keep in mind this also can void a warranty if it is a concern of new buyer.

Thanks, I’m 100% sure it doesn’t have my VIN because when I purchased it all communication was done via e-mail and looking back at the e-mail chain, no VIN was asked for and no VIN was given. Also, the instructions for the controller specifically mention that the VIN is to be programmed by the dealer using the factory scan tool.

BTW, it was Mark Jorgensen that I bought it from back in June of 2015. Man I can’t believe that was 5 years ago already. Boy does time fly!! Thanks again for all the help guys.
