I’ve been researching how to correctly check the oil level in my car for months, going by the manual and also using what other people on the forums suggested. My oil level stays about the same when it’s sat for 5 minutes after heating up, or it’s been sitting for weeks. I got super religious about checking my oil because I had my oil light flash last summer when I bought the car, to find out I didn’t have much oil in it from the exotic car dealership. Got an oil change ASAP and everything has been fine. But I still don’t correctly know how to check the oil level lol.

Mine reads the same whether i check it cold or sitting for 10 min after when it's hot. So, I just check it cold before I start it. Mine is a 2015.

Here is what i do. Change the oil so you know for a fact it has 11 qts. Let it sit overnight. Pull the stick once in the AM and etch a line in your dipstick. Its the clearest line you can get. Then going forward always check your oil cold.
If you want to use factory markings on the stick then check 5 minutes after shut down.
The first way is pretty fool proof though.

This has been discussed before. Get one of their cans of compressed air and give it a small shot down the oil dipstick hole with the stick removed. Then check oil. You will not have any smearing and will get an accurate reading every time. Then following what BJG32 says works the best. Create your own line. Forget checking lol after 5 mins. Use the morning after parking as your benchmark.
