window regulator repair kit

im trying to install the window regulator repair kit and i think the cut relief is on the wrong end of each end. anyone esle have this problem?

What would happen if you mounted the steel reinforcement on the other side of the very same regulator? Then, wouldn't it sit flush against the plastic? Never mind, looks like you're doing it right. Difficult to understand perspective with your photos zoomed in.

You're doing it the same way it was done earlier on another project.

Looked at my old broken regulator. It looks the same. It was a pain to get the right bend to reach those "ear" loops. On one side I got frustrated and dremelled the transition to it so it's not a sharp 90 degree bend.
