Hi guys. I’m looking to replace the exhaust tip filler trim that attaches to the rocker panel that covers the muffler. I currently have the silver one and would like to change them with a matte black. Is this a stock part of something that is either being powder coated by an individual or anodized aluminum? I have seen them on the later model cars
I looked online and found the part numbers 5SR72AAAAA -but it does not give a color option
Thanks
Dennis

I think a lot of folks just use bbq grill paint to change the color

I power coated mine.... but to be honest....just tape off and use high temp paint.

Can anyone post a pic of the high temp matte black tips as I might be interested to try it.
Thank you very much!!!

How is the trim piece attached to the rocker? From the back with screws, I assume? If so, then I would pull the sill, remove the trim and paint it that way as opposed to taping it off in place. Should come out much cleaner. Just IMO.

If you remove that aluminum/chromed looking trim ring piece (screws from back side), be careful. There has been many on here that had problems with snapping the heads of the screws off, leaving the threaded section in the trim piece. You may want to tape it off...or just leave it alone.

100% correct. No chance all 6 bolts survive removal. They seize in the hole.

Is that piece painted? Or can you use something like Never Dull on it to clean it up?

Just paint it high temp black for six bucks. It's a trim piece. Don't try to remove it. Bolts will break plus pulling rockers isn't exactly fun. K.I.S.S.: Keep It Simple Sir

I just got these in from Prefix. The finish looks great thanks Scott it’s always a pleasure doing business with you. I will post a picture of them in a few weeks once I take it out of storage and install them

What would you recommend doing for the surface prep of a discolored piece??

I would clean it with a liquid silver polish to remove the black stains (works well on my GTS). Then clean well with Alcohol. Then paint with high temp BBQ spray paint.

For $150 of parts and hardware I’m not so sure I would use a can of BBQ spray on a car like this.

Update-pictures of bezel installed .BTW I was able to remove all 3 screws from each original bezel with a little penetration oil and going easy. If you were to reinstall the original ones you would need new screws

That does look better. Clean.

I removed mine and painted them. The high temp exhaust paint did not like the factory paint, I had to take them down to the base. The short of it, go with Prefix, that is $ well spent
