Hello everyone,

So I've had my car for a few months now and just yesterday discovered the skip shift was installed incorrectly by the previous owner. The blank plug was on the reverse solenoid and the wiring to the shift skip was still attached. Ive always noticed that getting into reverse was difficult and that was the reason. Ok fine swapped it and connected the wiring back to the reverse solenoid and then plugged the skip shift into the eliminator pigtail. I now have the P1719 code for the skip shift and only for that. Nothing for the O2 sensors or the reverse solenoid. So I then removed the eliminator all together and reconnected the skip shift and the code remains. The skip shift is actually working and the reverse solenoid is as well. Any other ideas as to what it could be? Fuse is fine. Could the could the skip shift and reverse solenoid wires have been reversed at some point? Not sure the color codes that go to either.

Thank you

Did you clear the P1719 code and it returned?

Yea I tried clearing it but comes back immediately. It comes back so quick the light never goes off the dash haha

As I understand, the skip shift is 2 parts. 1 plug that attaches to the transmission and 1 pigtail that connects to the wiring harness. Is the pigtail plugged in or is it missing?

Side note: ordered a skipshift but haven't received, so I may be wrong.

If you have access to a code reader/scanner, clear the DTCs and see if it comes back. It could be one of those that take a couple of cycles to clear. If everything is plugged in and functioning correctly, it should clear on its own, but it might take a couple of drives.

I had a nightmare of an electrical issue on my old Gen 2, after months of trying to figure it out I discovered the skip shift eliminator was shorting out and blowing the #10 fuse, which killed the engine. Drove me nuts, took it out and plugged the original connector back in and bought an SCT and had it tuned out. Good luck with yours!

Correct there’s the pigtail and then the plug. It’s just a dummy plug so dirt doesn’t get into the sensor connector

I’ll drive it around and see how it goes. I tried clearing it several times with 2 different scanners. No luck
