Not really a big deal, but to me it really ties up one of the few remaining missing pieces to my BW 97 GTS.
I was able to find and purchase a like new Door FOB. I have searched for one of these since I bought the 97 back in 2015.
The Original owner (who I bought it from) had the car so long he forgot where the spare key and door FOB were.
I had purchased a new style FOB for a second, but it just was not the same.
Jon B helped me get correct fasteners and other minor items but could not help on the FOB.
Like I said not a big deal but I was like a Kid on his Birthday when it showed up in the mail.

Super. On that note, how many key fobs did the 1997 originally come with? It's too long ago and I just don't remember. I have one rectangular fob that does not seem to function and a newer curved fob that I use currently. Does anyone know how to repair the FOBs?

They originally came with two fobs and there was a recall that replaced the original fob's.

The 97 like most vehicles came with two FOBs. I am unaware of a recall on the door FOB for the 97. Thank You for that new info. Maybe that is why my search for a matching one was so tough. If you can offer any more detail on the recall I would appreciate it. Till then I will do a little more research.

I have heard that you can swap the electronic board from the new style (rounded) FOB back into the old style.
I am away from home in Florida for the winter. When I get back I will check out whether this looks possible or not.

I'm actually in Florida for the winter as well - and my paperwork is back home. I'll PM you the next time I'm back. I saved the original two FOBs but I don't think they looked any different than the replacements (both were the squarish style). There were two different keys though - one with the Sneaky Pete logo and one that was a plain Dodge key. You only got one Sneaky Pete key with the car.

I appreciate any info. I have the keys, one Sneaky Pete and one regular. I have heard that the Sneaky Pete was can break after they age so I am real careful with it.

Ok, back from Florida at home. I did verify, that the electronic Board in the Original style 97 key Fob (Square) and the new style FOB (Rounded) is the same P/N and Physical dimensions. So, if you need to (or want to) swap the boards you can.
See attached photos of both style FOB's and Circuit Board with P/N.

That's great to know. Thanks.
