I have a 2014 GTS and a 2017 GTC ACR-E/TA. Both are stock. Why does my ACR's exhaust seem noticeably louder to me? I know the outlets on the sides are different shapes (oval vs. round) but is there anything else different? Do they use the same mufflers? Since my ACR is a GTC I believe it has all of the sound deadening and insulation as a non-ACR Viper.

ACR's are round, at least mine are.

What He Said.

Note, mods including PCM/ECU will make it sound different

OP, it is funny that you mention this. My buddy's ACR is stock too, and it just seems louder than my GTS. Maybe it's just the paint job. :p

Yea, it is weird. Both cars are stock but the ACR sounds louder.

My bet is there is a difference in sound deading material. The tips being slightly different seems hard to believe that it would cause a noticeable sound difference. But FCA was constantly tweaking the sound insulation and seat cushion padding so I bet the answer is foam/carpet related.

I have searched for exhaust parts numbers for both ACR and non-ACR cause I need a stock exhaust for my ACR. The parts numbers were same if I remember correctly.
The only difference is the shape of tip, as mentioned above.

Tips make a much bigger difference than you may think.... Also, miles on the car and how it's driven. Fiberglass and muffler sound deadening material deteriorates as it ages, or if one is driven harder and hotter it can accelerate this.

The ACR may sound louder as it comes with less soundproofing. ACR exhaust is the same as standard Gen 5 except for the oval tips.
