Hey guys. I am looking to build a '17 ACR with a 9LE for 99% track/time attack use. I would like to get input before I finalize the build and ship it to Prefix for the winter.
9LE Engine Kit
ARH Headers 1-3/4"
Connection Pipe, No Cat
ARH Muffler
Jet Hot Header Coating
Nth Moto Triple Clutch
DSE Trans and Diff Cooler Kit
RPM Level VI Trans Upgrades
.80 5th gear
Wavetrac LSD
Accusump Oil Kit
Ross Murray Roll Bar
Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

A friend just had Prefix do a 9LE in his 16 TA 2. He went with Swain coating on the ARH headers. Supposed to be the best. I haven't seen the car so I can speak to whether it actually works or not but it is supposedly used by NASCAR and is advertised as better than any other coating. He also did the Nth Moto Clutch, the DSE trans and diff cooler, and Autoblip.

Look at the Arizona Viper thread and the blankets he used to control heat. Have a WB bung added to the ARH exhaust.

Not a Viper exhaust flow expert by any means, but there might be some benefit in power if you open up those headers to 1 7/8" or 2". I think the 1 3/4" is what a stock car would use without big mods.
If you are going this extreme and 99% track duty, you can always do the dry sump set up as well which Prefix can tell you about. I haven't really heard of vipers being hit with oil starvation but its definitely something to think about with extreme aero, more power, and slicks.

I'm guessing the rest of the car would take opening up those headers a bit more just fine?

Apparently the extra header diameter doesn’t lead to significant gains.

Pretty much what I have apart from Swain coatings rather than jet. No heat problems at track at all. Gearbox is a bit notchier with the extra horsepower unfortunately leading to some gears not wanting to be selected if you rush the change...main limitation for track use I find. However I'll need to modify my changes and aim to reduce changes where I can and use massive torque instead...

I’ll go with the Swain coating and extra wrapping. I will get it shipped off soon. Thanks guys!
Definitely do the header wrap, these 9Ls get hot! Would look into getting the DSE intake heat shield, then have prefix modify it for the accusump. Also prefix was testing solid rockers last time my car was in, this might be something to look into. Regardless you will be in good hands, and the 9LX is a beast!

I have similar set up except Belanger headers, DSE intake heat shield. No heat issues. Runs cooler than stock. Runs and sounds awesome. I could listen to it idle all day.

I recently had Prefix do a 9L extreme on my TA 2.0. I bought the DSE intake heat shield. Prefix did a very nice job with a fuse box shield and heat mitigation wrapping in general. You can talk to Scot Rickord about it. Swaintech coating on ARH headers. I have yet to track the car secondary to Colorado weather to give you feedback on the heat. You will be in good hands, and should be happy.

Why is it that Prefix doesn't up grade the cooling system in their 9L. Isn't it pretty much common knowledge that adding displacement as well as HP to any engine will create more heat. Or is there some other consideration that keeps them from doing it? Just wondering.

It doesn’t get overly hotter per say over a reg 8.4, but heat soak mitigation can be done with heat wrapping and the dse shield.

I pummel my 9L on track and oil temps rarely rise above 235 degrees

That good to know, My thoughts where more along the lines of sure these motors will live at those temps. but how much less efficient or should I say how much HP are you giving up when running at those temps. Is the 9L tune from Perfix that much different from stock tune?
I have pretty much talked myself into sending my car to Perfix for a 9L with in the next year. Just need to move out of this state first. If things work out I can have them ship it to my new address when their finished with it. That will be one less vehicle I will have to move. I am always amazed at how I can justify something if I want it bad enough one way or another.lol
It's just nice to hear from you guys that are running them. My car is mostly street driven but I do pummel it often.

Physics doesn't apply?
The obvious answer is they must believe the stock cooling system is capable of the additional heat rejection required. And no doubt there is additional heat rejection through the cooling system. Note that is a very different question than heat rejection through the exhaust system or heat rejected by the exhaust headers, both of which can be impacted by a change in the f/a ratio, spark timing, etc.

9L................ yes 9L great for road racing, not a big fan of Scot R or Prefix.....BUT they build good run of the mill reliable motors we have had great luck with their motors
ARH mild steel headers with jet hot......cheap way out not great for extended duration run time. 321 stainless or monel headers better option but very pricey.
Nth moto triple clutch.......by far best clutch on the market
DSE trans diff cooler........ race inspired but definitely not a race proven system
RPM trans upgrades.................. We run stock trans with 850HP prefix 9L have zero problems with trans. Unless your a pro driver you wont need ratio changes. Car is way out in front of most amateur drivers. Serious time attack goto real sequential box
Wave trac LSD.....great upgrade but absolutely need dif cooler they generate alot of heat
accusump oil kit........ cheap way out, they work OK but a pain in the ass, difficult to mount in viper limited space better options out there
Ross Murray roll bar.............not a great design. If your road racing alot full cage is a must. A-pillar protection with proper design and bracing is the only way to go.
if you need more info on road racing/time attack running your viper martin@tkomotorsports.com

The actual facts regarding the DSE Viper trans and diff coolers is that they have been running on track for over a year in one off events and complete seasons of racing series.
Doug
So whose trans/diff cooler is better and why? What are the significant differences?

I have Doug’s Coolers on my 2016 and they are great! I ran the One Lap of America this year with zero issues. My car gets plenty of track time. I am off to Daytona in December for 3 Days of running the Rolex Course.
Dougs stuff is engineered well, fits/installs well and very reliable. Ya
