Real live Pirelli P-Zero's eh? Never thought I'd see the day.

Corsa's?

I've got the basic P-Zero's on the Porsche and they've worked surprisingly on the canyon runs.

I mistakenly believed that Pirelli hadn't made any P-Zeros in years; that there were no P-Zeros in any distributor inventories; and that only Corsas would be manufactured moving forward. WRONG. I emailed JonB and two days later these showed up. P-Zeros with Born-on Dates of May 2019 and September 2019. Thanks JonB.

Jon, I know we are supposed to pay attention to the dates on the tires and glad to see that the ones you have just came out of the oven so to speak. Given the short supply if someone (say me) bought a set or two of PZeros even though my car doesn't need tires yet is there a way of storing them so that they would last well past the expected life as indicated by manufacture date? For example if I stored them in opaque bags in the cool basement out of the light would that extend their life? If so, how many more years would they be good?

You are on the right trail........... (track)

Step One: Fresh New Tires from JonB....check

Step Two: buy 'drum liners' from a big-box, or U-line, and put 1 fresh tire in 1 bag. OXYGEN hardens the rubber, so suck all the air out, vacuum-packing the tire inside. NO AIR. Knot/Tie Bag. A bug would suffocate.

Step 3: Store in a cool, dry place. Rotate stock every now and then.

Some years back, after a 20-20 TV show, the Natl Tire & Rubber Council stated that unlike used tires, "new, unmounted tires in proper storage degrade only 2-3% per year of storage' ...... So a 10 year old tire is at 70%-80% of new traction. A new tire is NOT stretched like an inflated tire. A used tire was heated by driving...many times? Facilitates oxidization / hardening. Not driven = not hardening much. Never inflated? Ditto.

LASTLY, for the A/R among us:

Before storing a tire for 4-5-6 years as contemplated here, you could literally spray the entire tire, inside and out, with silicone spray. Or a UV-protectant spray such as..........ARMOR ALL, etc. Not any dry-finish kind. By coating every inch of the rubber with a preservative of sorts, I have to think that NO bad-air is going to be able to harden these over-the-top obsessively protective treatments.

I have ZERO evidence, but I also think it could NOT hurt.......

ozone and UV is what actually degrades tires pretty bad. It says do not apply any tire dressings too.

The PSC-2s are great and keep in mind a 345/19 Michelin runs wide so it is almost identical to a 355/19 Pirelli.

I have no idea what UK charges you for taxes, etc .

Interesting comparo

$500 each is about retail on Pirelli or Michelin Rears in USA ......does not seem outrageous.....
