We had our annual Heart Strings for Hope on Tuesday night and thought I'd share a few videos. We do this every year, with all of the proceeds going to St Jude's (the latest number I've seen is $500k), and this year sold out in under two hours of tickets going on sale. To say this has become a huge event is an understatement. :)
It's all country artists (Sheryl Crow is country now) and we have all 5 of them on stage at the same time. They have a great time cutting up with each other and "the regulars" love coming because they say it's really about the only chance they get to truly sing instead of yell, like at a big, loud concert.
The regulars are Kelley Lovelace (not a singer, but lives in Chatt, originally started this idea, and has written more hits for other artists than you can imagine), Randy Houser (career has exploded since he was the newcomer about 5 years ago and has probably the most powerful voice I've ever heard) and Jerrod Niemann. You couldn't keep these away if you tried! Well, Randy did have to bail the night before a couple of years ago so he could get back to Nashville for the birth of his son.
Tyler Farr was the newcomer this year, but has had some big hits in the past year, so he wasn't exactly the normal "up and comer" we usually have. From the amount of fun he had, I expect to see him back.
The "headliner" this year was Sheryl Crow. I wasn't sure what to expect from her in terms live vocals, but damn, she nailed it!
Anyway, here's a few videos from the concert. You'll have to excuse the quality, as I took them with my phone, but even with that, you can tell how talented these guys (and gal) are! I've got a lot more on youtube, but I don't want to bombard this thread with links. If you go to youtube and search "Scott Lanford", you should be able to see other ones. Even if you don't like country, getting to hear these artists perform like this is a real treat.
