I just recently bought my dream car, and the first issue is the stereo. The volume knob is broken. My question is, how do you find another one that fits this odd curvature? Im not sure this dash is stock, but the curves on the corners seem different. Any input is appreciated.

That is the standard 1.5 DIN Chrysler stereo.

You have three options:

1. Find another...they are pretty common across the Chrysler lineup of that era, and probably wouldn't be hard to find one.
2. Install an aftermarket single DIN head unit - it is smaller, so you'll need to install an adapter, which will take up the gap and match the curvature you see there
3. Install an aftermarket double DIN head unit - that will require custom fabrication to make it fit, and depending on the model chosen, might require you to cut into the dash. There are newer options out now that are shallow and should keep you from having to do the last part, but you'll still have to modify the dash piece either way.

Chip, that radio was used in a million Chrysler vehicles. Take a look at ebay, you can buy them by the truck load, cheap!!

If you go aftermarket, a kit like this will adapt the radio/wiring/antenna.

Aftermarket lets you pick up features like Bluetooth, but eliminates features like dimming, speed based volume and EQ set to OEM speakers.

Personally, I went aftermarket, with a radio without a CD mechanism. They are physically about 1/4 the size and weight of the OEM radio.

Find one from a Jeep or a Neon, same stereo.

That one's a single disc. If you want the changer, you need something like this:

Also, during these years, Chrysler produced 2 versions of the same radio (with different part numbers), one with high speed CAN bus, the other with low speed.

Solution - install full aftermarket exhaust, then no need for stereo

Who’s still lugging around CDs in their Viper? FM if you need it.

The cheapest and best Viper stereo of all time.
