I heard that it is possible to add CarPlay to gen v viper by replacing the touch screen with dodge demon touch screen. I would like to be able to connect with the Waze app. Has anybody done this and know how to do it?

I've been considering it also, my mustang has android auto and car play(aftermarket though) and I miss it alot. This company does it, if you have a nav radio in your viper they told me they will take $350 off the price if you send it in when you buy their newer unit with android auto/carplay.

That would be a cool trick...

Bummer, I would love to do it, but not "2013-2015 Viper SRT will lose SRT performance pages (if equipped)."

Pretty sure you lose SRT performance pages with this and it will have the Hellcat logos / wallpaper on it...a lot of kabbage for something that will ultimately not look factory when on...

Seems more useful then adding a DSC controller to stock suspension :t0140:

Lol, I approve of this message.
I don't know why my post above was cutoff, what it was supposed to say was that its really disappointing that they cannot push a software update to enable CarPlay integration. Is their code so poorly written that whatever they're doing for every other vehicle can't be cut/pasted into the Viper code and pushed out to us? That might cost them 2 hours of a programmers time though...

im not sure we'll see anymore updates pushed over the air.. the Viper is discontinued so not sure FCA would see the immediate upside with possible concerns of risk in bricking systems and being financially responsible if the OTA update doesn't go smoothly..

It is 99% a hardware limitation. The USB hubs must support the protocol used by Android and Apple, which are not in our cars. This also then requires a new wiring harness. The dash unit itself then must have the required hardware internally to run those applications.

That's the only real problem with this. The price wouldn't scare me but no perf pages and hellcat logo are no good

Not a good trade off for that coin... oh well!

Haven't posted on here in forever, but I still read posts almost daily. The guy that owns the infotainment site and business above bought my car to develop this service specifically for the Viper. Well, that and he always wanted a Viper! Man I still miss my car.

@ Bleed Viper - you do know he's selling the (your) Viper - https://www.infotainment.com/collections/cars-for-sale/products/2014-srt-viper-gts-v10-leather-uaq-carplay-mint-condition

Wow, he never drove it. I sold it to him with 12K miles almost two years ago. Thanks for the link. And on top of that, I bought it brand new in 2015 for 89K!

so looking at this closer, it says srt perf pages are lost on 2013-15, but doesn't seem to apply to 2016/17. What would have changed there?

Hardware, likely.
I still am not interested in having a unit in my Viper that has Hellcat/Demon treatments.

Looks like it just says SRT, I may call and ask what the actual differences are. The OS behind these is the same generally across all of the platforms, and then the customization for the car is loaded, so thinking that is selectable as well

Correct. Also the screen resolution on the UConnect systems wasn't high enough for Apple's hardware requirements prior to 2018. The ability to pinch-zoom and swipe wasn't built into the 8.4" screen until 2018 either. We have the 8.4" nav in a 2017 Durango and also a 2018 Durango (long story)... they're night-and-day difference in screen quality.
The Durango interface has several options for graphics that are Dodge branded, not model specific... I'd have to imagine something like a Hellcat Charger or SRT Durango would have a few neutral options for the graphics treatment and should be able to run performance pages.
Having said all that... I drove the 2017 and 2006 on back to back days 6 hours each last month. In the 06 I used bluetooth earbuds for Waze, and in the 2017 I used audio through USB for Waze. The visuals are very cool, but if traffic and police alerts are your primary concern the audio connection gets the job done.
