08 is newer than 05 :)
05 features a 8.3 ltr engine, 08 features an 8.4 ltr engine.

Unless you're planning on buying a Vert, you should look at 06/08.
Gen 3 are more tuner friendly.
Gen 4 has some desirable factory upgrades - diff, more power, hood, trans (t56 vs 6060), intake manifold.
Gen 3 can have all those parts upgraded.
Gen 4 cost more.
Gen 3 coupes are lower production numbers, it was only made for 1 year.
If it was me, I'd but a Gen 3 Coupe and dump the extra money into upgrades.
Or bump your budget and get a Gen 3 coupe that is already built, I think there are 2 turbo'ed cars for around 70k.

Perhaps the OP should ask himself what he intends to do with the car? Classic for touring and driving or Weekend Warrior burning up the Drag Strip or Buying it for circuit tack days?
Which model year was it that had problems with the Oil pick up in the Block that caused spun bearings normally starting with No 3 rod?
When was the swing arm oil pick up introduced?

Personally I plan on doing a build with mine, twincharge it and from what was said gen 3 seems the better choice

If you're open to Verts you can get one for maybe 35-45k and use the rest of your 60k budget to start the build.

Good Question - the Gen3 had issues with oiling in extended high-G-force cornering. The Gen4 oil pickup fixed it.
and yes, OP... if you're thinking about doing a big forced induction build you may want to stick with the Gen3 to start. Search on the forums tuning and turbo builds for each Gen to see what's been done on that front.

I'm with Fatman2006. I went shopping for a Gen 4, but know how much I like forced induction. Since I'm a coupe guy, only the '06 was an option for me in Gen 3.
While shopping for a Gen 4, I found a Gen 3 coupe that was already supercharged, built right. It had everything I would have done myself, and priced nicely. Sold!
