2009 ACR Tyre dimension

Hello!
I have a 2009 ACR coming in about a month, and from what I understood from the salesman, the car is on stock tyres.
I don´t want the Cup 2 for driving on the cold and wet roads here in Norway, so I'm ordering a set of Super Sports, the question is, what is the stock tyre dimension on the 09 ACR?

OEM front tires for our 2008 coupe ...Michelin Pilot Sport PS2...275/35/18

OEM front tires for our 2010 ACR...Michelin Pilot Sport Cups...295/30/18

I will be interested to hear what you can find in appropriate sizes that will fulfill the requirements for safe driving on "cold and wet roads". I certainly know of no such tire here in the U.S.

Use the 295/18 or 285/19s in the front of your ACR -- Pilot Super Sports.

Are you looking for the actual measurements, like height and width?

The stock height on the ACR's 295/30-18 fronts are pretty consistent with most manufacturers at 25.0" tall, section and tread width vary at ~11.9 and ~11.5 respectively.

The stock height on the 345/30-19 rears is about 27.2" tall with section and tread width ~13.8" and ~12.7 - 13.1 respectively, depending on the manufacturer.

If I lived there I would run these all the time. Discontinued Continental Wets from Hoosier. I would buy as many as they had. They work great in the cold and the wet. Like magic actually. Not sure how long they last if street driven?? Crazy cheap too.

As long as we are "innovating"...remember the dualies on all four corners of the Gen IV ACR driven by Herb and Dick when they attended the Ohio Holiday Party in the snow back in the day ??!!!

That particular successful snow "solution" led one of my fellow Regional members to try to solve the hydroplaning of his Gen IV convertible in a curious fashion. His line of reasoning led him to replace his rear 345/30/19's with the 275/35/18's found on his front end. I really don't know if he ever did an effective rain test, but bystanders were certainly impressed when he ran through the gears in a spirited fashion on a sunny, warm, and dry day...loosing control around 80 mph. He survived, the Viper did not. Interestingly, the local (clueless) insurance adjustor failed to examine the "setup", being distracted by an excellent diversion thought to be a contributing factor.

lol!! That's funny.

Boring as hell but this is me in the wet. These tires are like the ones I mention above but are 7 years old at the time I took this video. It's about 65 degrees or so. Wrong car too :). Still 100 MPH in pretty serious rain. I drove this car to and from the track on these since it was pouring and left them on it most of the time on the street. Tossed these and got a new set on now.

Full disclosure I don't drive the Viper in the wet. :D

I ASSUMED that the original poster was inquiring about use on streets and highways...hence my doubting availability of SAFE and legal tires for use in wet and cold...both of which environmental circumstances have accounted for numerous Viper accidents and/or fatalities. Track usage, and the accompanying safety gear, are a totally different matter. In a race, one is there to win. Sadly, at least in this country, there is always the real issue of litigation when applying racing equipment and driving style to the street.

Hopefully, Norwegian will find some of this info useful for his/her driving situation.

I have long appreciated the trials and tribulations of sports car driving in the extreme northern latitudes...going back to the middle 1970's when many of us were starting to drive Porsches. A fellow from Finland (with whom I was in training) stated: "All my friends with Porsches are now dead". His words stayed with me when my new, 1977 930 Turbo arrived !!


Of course, another solution would be to move to a location whose weather is more Viper friendly. :)

Thanks for all the input! I was looking for the stock dimmensions, so I could order a set of Super Sports ahead of the car arriving.
I dont intend to use the car in cold and wet conditions, we do actually have a lot of sunny weather during the summer, but it would be nice to be able to drive home normally if the weather changes.

Really looking forward to getting the car, I just sold my 2006 vert, and this will be the only ACR in Norway!
