almost a daily driver

About 5 weeks and 900 miles since purchase, I would characterize my srt as an "almost daily driver".

Standing water collects in certain areas on my commute after a heavy shower. So apart from the rare icy roads and large puddles, this car is really really user-friendly. From seating position/comfort to clutch pedal/control, this vehicle has really matured. I like the return of the nannies, since my driving skills are average at best. The interior has been upgraded significantly (I have the base, Bitten showed me her jaw dropping GTS interior). Still trying to master the EVIC. For a while the screen included constant tire pressure monitoring. I reset to default and cannot get that menu option back?????? I was looking for the CD slot for almost a week, until reading the manual.

I can see driving 10,000 miles per year easily. The 3.55 gearing makes for a less edgy drive. Car also sounds better and hitting that 2000 rpm sweet sound spot is a repeated pleasure. Coming from a Gen III, the driving experience is vastly different and sufficiently preferable to make the car my almost daily driver.

I know what you mean. I have had my TA for 4 weeks and have 650 miles and love it. It is easy to drive, shift, smooth power delivery, Awesome 3:55 rear end ratio, seating ergonomics, all the electronics, seat ratchet system for height, thick steering wheel, and power! My friend has 2500 miles on his TA!

I agree, I could drive this car daily! I love it and spent all day Saturday in my car. I don't daily drive it because of the parking situation and the heavy traffic where I live. I feel like there is a target on the car. Everyone who isn't paying attention on the am comute and the girls at work who like to play bumper cars with each other and the trash cans.

I did have a tractor trailer rig pull onto the highway Saturday at 5 mph while I was going 70. I got on the brakes hard (they work), slammed into third with the background yelling of my husband to put it into third and switched lanes avoiding a head on collision. I had a few glasses of wine at lunch and gave my husband the keys for the ride home!

The car is superb and Randd is being very nice about my interior (Laguna Seca) his interior is much nicer than the Gen 3 cars we both sold. We bought our cars only a week apart and we have very different expectations and requirements, yet we both come to the same conclusions, this car can easily be a daily driver and is very forgiving compared to previous generations.

I never cared to daily drive my Gen 3, it was too rough riding and best suited for weekend duty. I've had the Gen 3 for 7 years, and it has 15K miles on it now. I've already got 8K miles on my Gen 5, in less than a year. I can't help not driving it, when the weather is nice. Just a far more livable Viper.

I recently installed the BBG dual-disk clutch in the car, haven't been back to the track. Next time I'll launch harder, as the drag radials had more traction than the factory clutch did. These Gen V cars sure could use a 3.73 gear to make them launch easier. I hate that they made 1st gear carry out to 60 mph to appease the lame 0-60 magazine bench racers.

Nope. Not sure many cars in 2014 do, honestly.

The Gen5 has a USB port in between the seats, behind the driver's right shoulder. I am presently loading hours and hours of my favorite tunes. Once inserted the EVIC (8" monitor in middle of dash) displays the USB directories, tunes etc and selection is easy. The monitor is a touch screen. There is also a slot, next to USB port for another type of digital storage medium. Bitten uses that one on her SRT GTS.

Have you thought of replacing the front wheels/tires with narrower ones for the strip?
