I doubt the cats would void the warranty, but if the cats cause the check engine light to constantly go on, and you decide to swap to a different PCM to resolve it, that is going to be dicey. There are pages and pages of discussion on here about that.

Also, if your area does smog tests, that's going to be an issue. On my Gen IV, I put a full exhaust on it and I had all kinds of issues with the CEL and smog tests. If the check engine light is on, and it throws a "bad cat" code during the test, here in CA you open a can of worms.

No testing where I live. Reason I asked is that I am considering getting certain areas of the car done in Xpel, and was curious if the heat from the sills would cause the wrap to change colors? Thought I read that it did but maybe that was just with cars that are tracked?

I would bet the house on them not covering repaint/replace. Even though you're removing the 2nd cat/heat source from under there.



I just installed them on my car, see 3rd page of this thread https://driveviper.com/forums/threads/23832-High-flow-cats-from-JonB-finally-installed-Should-have-done-this-long-ago/page3. I documented some temps. The temps under the rocker panel (right under the hinge covers) were 175 on driver side and about 200 under the passenger side with the high flows. That was just after doing a high mph run with it.

I would bet the xpel will get gnarly after a couple years around that area. I don't like the idea of the wraps because the thought of people near the paint with xacto blades is unnerving. I just repair the chips in my paint as they arise. It comes out great and is a whole lot cheaper. My car is a weekend warrior, so it's not going to get chipped up as bad.

If you wrap, you'll definitely get some bubbling up of the wrap in the high-heat areas. I have SunTek and I'm starting to see it. The installer said that pretty much all of the Vipers he does have some degree of problems with the heat, and most end up removing the wrap from the problem areas and leave it in the areas where it's really needed. The color of the wrap doesn't seem to change, but the bubbling up is definitely annoying.

Don't recall exactly how long it took the last time I installed one, something like 2 hours per side. I neglected to mark the exhaust tip location before dismantling and took iterations of replacing the door sills to get exhaust tip lined up with the opening.
The sound does change a bit, seems louder to me.

They add power. ...and it is louder, to me not in a good way. I used the factory mufflers. It took me longer than Sharmut...I think about 3 1/2 hrs per side. I also took temp readings before and after because I had a thermal barrier coating put on the exhaust.

I would say it's about 20-25% louder maybe a little less but I think the sound is so much better. I use the stock mufflers also and I feel it is the best sound compared to most catback systems. I switched my latest Gen V from Belanger cutback to high flows with stock mufflers. With a fellow owners help it took probably 2 hours or so a side, like previously stated if you mark the exhaust tip location it makes the reassembly much easier!

I have the Belanger hi flo cats and Belanger mufflers the drone is actually improved but car is really loud. Side sills don’t get hot anymore. Definitely not in the cabin but outside it’s super loud. I do love the sound but it would be nice if it was a little more exotic sounding. I discussed the warranty with CJ at Meadowlands and he said absolutely no issue at all.

Don't matter, FCA won't fix the door sills that get yellow because of heat. I asked about it at the dealership a while ago and the dude said tough luck, more or less :)

I know of someone that had it covered down here in San Diego. It was only one side. After the repair they did Belanger HF cats with coated pipe and OEM muffler. I checked it out afterwards and it was a lot cooler.
