Hey friends,
Over the past couple months the AZ, SoCal, CenCal and NorCal clubs have been working together to plan and execute a run up the PCH. Glad to say we have what we think is a very nice itinerary, here are the details:
Thursday 9/19
• AZ group will depart Phx 0900 local from West side and arrive Oxnard around 6P local (any other 'out of towners' welcome to join us)
• Potty breaks before and after lunch which is planned for Indio, venue TBD
• Block of 12 rooms is being held at Hilton Garden Inn Oxnard. Rates and details below in ‘hotels’ section
• Dinner venues a plenty near by
Friday 9/20
• Depart HGI Oxnard 0900 toward Ventura
• From Ventura 33 North through Wheeler Springs and Ventucopa to 166
• 166 West to 101 just North of Santa Maria. 101 North to San Luis Obispo
• Take route 1, PCH, North from SLO through Morro Bay, Cayucos, Cambria to San Simeon
• Arrive Cavalier Oceanfront Resort San Simeon mid afternoon
• TONS of sight seeing all along the way, something for everyone – ocean vistas, elephant seals, wine tasting rooms and more!
• King and double queen rooms $224 per night taxes and fees included. More details below in ‘hotels’ section
• Dinner at Cavalier Resort. $75 per head including gratuity and tax. Cash bar for those inclined
• Dinner venue seats up to 70 people, pricing based on 50 people
• 3 cliff side fire pits lit each night to gather around after dinner
Saturday 9/21
• Tour world famous Hearst Castle in the morning. http://hearstcastle.org/tour-hearst-castle/tour-tickets-pricing/
• Drive further up the coast or explore the area if not interested in Castle tour
• Lunch at local vineyard between San Simeon and Paso Robles, venue TBD
• One or two winery tours afternoon area in and around Paso Robles, venues TBD
• Dinner at the eclectic Madonna Inn San Luis Obispo. $75 per person. https://www.madonnainn.com/
• Dinner venue seats up to 70 people, pricing based on 50 people
• Adjourn to Cavalier Resort following dinner, fire pits at cliffside!
Sunday 9/22
• Depart for home if you must
• Or, if schedule allows join a group continuing North to Monterrey.
• Meet NorCal folks in Monterrey for lunch, venue TBD
• After that…Santa Cruz, San Jose…. Or who knows!
We will post registration info on AZ VOA page or email regstration info shortly. Still working on those details. $150 per person registration covers the two dinner events. Registrants book their own hotel and Hearst Castle Tours.
We have to limit this event to VOA members and associate members only I’m afraid, because we have limited seating capacity at the dinner venues. So if you’ve planned to sign up but haven’t gotten that done yet, let this be your motivation. Come on, git ‘er done! Imagine tearing through mountain passes then up the Pacific coast in a string of Vipers 20 to 50 strong. It’s gonna be fun!
We’re looking for a minimum of 25 cars or 50 registrants across all regions. Hope for a strong showing from AZ of course! If you know for sure you are in, please reply back to Peter by email or by text. If you’re a no, or a maybe, let me know that too, so that I can keep the Cali clubs informed about registration rates. Hope to see a bunch of you on this one!
