I'm creating this thread for my friend Scott and Calvo Motorsports who is doing this build. My friend Scott isn't on the forum but he's got a Gen 5 ACR and also bought my Gen 2 race car that I had a thread about here- https://driveviper.com/forums/threads/14239-1998-GTS-race-car-Gen-4-heads-Gen-5-intake-manifold-conversion
Please don't ask what happened previously what happened to the other shop, let's just say it's a sore subject after 4 blown motors and a MASSIVE amount of wasted money and almost 2 years of wasted time.
Needless to say he finally got the car to Calvo which I had recommended after the 2nd or 3rd blown motor. The motors never lasted more than a few laps, one even blew up on the dyno straight off the shipping truck.
Let's keep this thread limited to just going forward on what Calvo is doing to the car.
My friend Scott tracks with me and I know Calvo badly wants Scott to beat me in my 9 liter 2013 :D

Motor:
They are starting with a GTSR block, will be around 12.75 compression, they went through great lengths to lighten the crank and other secrets he won't tell me.
Final product will have 8000-8500 redline, we won't know until after it's dyo'd and tuned. They are shooting for 800whp
Full Motec including traction control
Drive by wire

Tranny- PPG sequential with paddle shifters. Yup, paddles in a Gen 2. 1 to 1 ratio 6th gear.

I'll post pics as I get them from Calvo. They are tearing everything down now, repainting under hood, interior etc and running all new wiring.
Hopefully it will be done next month, I can't wait to battle it out with this beast!!!

AZ, gonna be killer!!! Don't want to ask the costs but I've got a good idea.

I would have suggested go with a .95 6th but then I saw it will go to 8k so you it won't top out in 6th till say 175 mph or so. Tell him to go get road race gears, here's my ratio's and I think they work great.

1st) 2.760 2nd) 2.056 3rd) 1.598 4th) 1.296 5th) 1.112 6th) 0.958

I went by there back in January and Antonio gave me a tour of the place. They have a nice place. Very covert as I drove by it at least twice trying to find it. But once again, it's a well appointed shop. Lots of cool toys and equipment.

Wow, I always wondered about your build, That was a cool car from the get go, and the last thread was interesting. Talk about stripping out everything that was done! Keep the pics coming........

More pics! Antonio and the boys are basically doing a frame-off on this bad boy. The current wiring is a rats nest, so I bet the car loses 30 lbs alone with the new streamlined motec wiring etc

Heads appear to not have been modified for the larger cylinder head bolts vs. the standard (smaller) OEM metric ones. Just an observation.
