First small accident

Dear friends,

today I had a minor accident with my Chrysler Viper RT/10 , VIN : 1C3CRC5E1RV101156

When the previous owner sold me the car, there was no owner's manual.

So when I installed the fabric roof I forgot to secure the front latches and as a result my roof flew off at 40 mph !!!!

While my car was undamaged, another car coming from behind drove over my fabric roof and damaged the side and rear sections. :-(((

I have all the pieces, the fabric, the front section and the metal bars seem to be ok.

But the side and rear sections are broken.

Can anyone suggest how I can fix this / buy parts for this ?

They are supposed to be rated for 100 mph so that sucks. I do see parts for them on fb sell groups and ebay. Just look around. Of get one of the Autoform tops.

Actually it was my fault, because I did not secure the front latches, because I did not have the Owner's manual (previous owner never gave me one) and I thought the front locked like the rear latches.

By the way does anyone have the Owner's manual in PDF format ??? Thanks !!!

Without looking up the VIN, is it a Gen1 or 2? I have a like-new Gen2 soft top if it gets to that point

It is Gen 1. Does anyone know if all Gen 1 have the same roof or if it varies from year to year ? Thanks !!

Sorry to read this! If the side arms are broken they can be replaced. If the rear/back base is broken you’re toast. Reach out to 99rt10. (I just sent him a text about this) He knows those tops and might also have side arms available. I just sold a G1top. They are pricey if you need to replace. Good luck! Mike

Thanks for your help !!! The front and rear are in ok condition (some minor damage that I think is fixable, since it is composite, it can be glued like they do in marine applications)

The problem are the side that are toast !!

Can anyone provide me info how to find the side arms ??

Also a basic diagram of the roof would be helpful in understanding how the pieces work together (I am missing owners manual)

So these pictures are from a genuine G1 roof ?
How easy/hard is it to find one for me ?
My fabric and metal support bars are fine.
The front is slightly broken, at the rear one of the 2 clamps is broken off, and the side parts are seriously broken...
Any chance I can find the side parts and maybe a rear one too ??

You should mention it is a 1994 as the roof changed slightly just about every year during Gen 1.

Side bows should be available but be careful of warped bows as many were replaced due to heat related warping.

I wrote before you can’t find the back bar but u can buy replacement arms

There’s one for sale in the classifieds for $1,800 and another one on eBay for $2,230.

Is the back bar attachement damaged? If so, the top is done. I have a soft top, selling for $1600, but the front latches are different year to year. What year is your car?

Just saw your pictures, top is done. You can salvage the front latches. Not much else. PM me if you want a replacement. I also have a better top off a 96 for sale, but you will need to use your latches

Dave where did you hear that? I had my Gen 1 up to about 170 mph with the roof installed. Only issue was flapping sound in the center region.

Just saw your pictures, top is done. You can salvage the front latches. Not much else. PM me if you want a replacement. I also have a better top off a 96 for sale, but you will need to use your latches

From an RT/10 owner that was doing 100+ and his flew off. Hence it was found out through the manufacturer's publications. Maybe it was in the owner's manual. Dunno. Never even read my owner's manual on my GTS.
