When I use the key fob the trunk clicks but does nothing. The key works. How do adjust the cable?
Thanks - Sid

You have to pull up on the trunk at the same time, with either pressing the key fob or using the key. Otherwise it locks the trunk again.

Don't put excessive pressure on the switch. Find a leverage point to pull up on the trunk so as to not risk breaking the switch from the mounting tabs.

Is there a button inside the cabin of a coupe to release the trunk? Or only on the key fob?

There is a button next to the license plate lights on the trunk. If you look under there, you will see it.

Convertibles dont have the button. I am working on adding one to it and seeing what is involved.
I'm assuming your 04 is a vert since that is all that was made in that year.

Gen 3 coupes don't have the latch between the lights either, just gen 4's I think.
I have to manually lift the hatch at the same time as pressing the key fob, as it (the spring?) isn't strong enough to 'pop' the trunk like my Mustang does

Thread caused me to go look at mine. I can confirm my Gen 3 coupe doesn't have any type of button other than the key fob. Mine will pop (without catching) about 50% of the time. A slight lift with my hand helps, or just use the actual key in the lock mechanism.

My Gen 3 does not work. I was considering replacing it, but it sounds like this simple part has a high failure rate. Probably just continue using the key.

I have a Gen 4 Coupe with a gate button above the license plate (came broken & pushed inside the gate already -_-) and my remote also has a hatch release button.
I've tried pulling up in the hatch while pressing the remote button for 15 minutes... Doesn't work. Tried lubing the latch mechanism in case it was stuck. Didn't work either.
Anyone else have a Gen 4 Coupe with a working remote hatch release button?
I'm starting to wonder if Dodge just recycled the same remote from Gen 3 to Gen 4 but instead put a physical gate release on the car and removed the remote hatch release function.

15 minutes!!!! Wow, you must have some patience :) Does the latch make a clicking sound with the fob pressed?
See thread here https://driveviper.com/forums/threads/10007-Hatch-Release-Button?highlight=latch for cheap fix, especially this post

Hello members. I am a new member as of today. I finally bought a Viper that I have always wanted. The last car of my "Bucket List." I purchased a 19,000 showing on the speed O - 2008 Red Coupe a few months ago and while learning the car I discovered the decklid release motor is not working. The key fob when used signals the tail lights and license plate lights. I just ordered for replacement on eBay the missing deck lid external push button. I have used a test light at the motor wiring and have no power when using the fob. I check all fuses under the Hood and relays. Looking at the schematic it appears the power comes from the BCM. I have not checked the output at the BCM. I would appreciate any advise for my issue.
Is there any known Viper qualified technicians in the Santa Rosa California area? I'm not to excited to take it to a Dodge Dealer in town.
Thank You
Ron
