On 3/8/19 our customer Jake decided to take his Nth Moto Twin Turbo 2016 Viper TA2.0 down to Orlando Speed World to do some drag racing. The goal was to reset his own record as the current quickest Gen V Viper at 8.25 @ 180 mph, with intent of trying to break into the elusive 7 second zone. The catch? This is a full interior, all amenities, no weight reduction car runnning on 18" HRE wheels front and back no less. A true street car with unassuming looks and nature that is just as content driving to dinner as it is blasting down the drag strip.
The weather was fair and we had all day to make it happen - the car was running on One Ethanol fuel and was unloaded and warmed up, with only an adjustment to tire pressure made before heading up for a first test pass. The car launched smoothly and Jake ran it through first and part of second gear to get a feel for the car and the track surface. With the data looking good and the track feeling solid he lined up again and gently staged the car against the trans brake... with a smooth, but blazingly quick 60' of 1.281 seconds (0-60mph in only 1.77 seconds for reference) the car nonchalantly ran 7.88 @ 180 mph! Both a new World Record and the first ever Gen V to run a 7 second quarter mile.
With that single pass, the car was taken down to Ft. Myers to cruise around for a few days before making the trek over to Texas a few days later to partake in the events at TX2K19, where the car continued to run flawlessly and show a lot of fast cars it's taillights.
Enjoy this video and take pride in the Gen V Viper being one of the baddest performance platforms ever. Period.

sounds like a TH400. I heard three gears. I'd imagine 1700+ through the auto.
Damn, that just looked so smooth! Incredible work guys and great driving.

Thanks everyone - it's a pretty awesome achievement not only for our company and the owner of the car, but for the Viper community as a whole. I really don't know if I've seen another RWD car on an 18" wheel go this quick... if so I'd love to hear about it and set a target for ourselves because there is certainly more to be had in this car currently.
For us the most impressive part is how NOT race car it is; no tiny brakes for small diameter wheels, no weight reduction, no massive cutting up of the car, no exhaust coming out of the hood or anything funky, no pit crew required for every pass, etc. It's a testament to what can be done when the right methods, technology, and platform are combined.
This car has our ATI TH400 automatic conversion with overdrive, so it drives around just as smooth and easy as ever. It even looks stock on the inside, and the trans brake it operated through the factory Launch control button on the steering wheel for good measure.

What you guys have done is simply amazing. The fact that the car looks like it does....a regular street driven Viper as clean as can be under the hood and so unassuming is just as impressive as the 7 sec. pass. Congrats and congrats!!!! Speechless.

What is interesting (opinion) why hasn't any other viper tuner come close to your level of power/performance, especially while maintaining the stock appearance.

Its crazy to see a stock looking viper or any car I should say do a 1/4 in the 7s.
When I think of a 7s car I think of a crazy setup like Leory from Cleetus McFarland.
