I got caught in the rain this last weekend in my GEN 4 and no wipers. I have had the car about a year and a half and I can't for the life on me remember if I have ever turned them on before this. Anyway I pulled the fuse and it was good. Then I turned the ignition to run and I am getting 12 volts form both sides of the fuse holder. Turn the wiper switch to on and the same thing. Turn ignition to off and power from only one side. I did install a GEN 5 steering wheel a few months ago and I got lazy and didn't connect the horn. I guess I should go back and start there. Any ideas?

I had a similar issue on my GEN III (2003)... I found that the connector that connects to the wiper module on the steering column had come loose and was disconnected... check there first to see if that's the issue... you'll have to remove the housing around the steering column, but that' s only a few screws....

Ditto on the connector.

Thanks I will start there.

Doesn't it seem odd that I am getting power from both sides of the fuse terminal.

Yea it is more than likely the connector. I purchased my viper from the dealership last year and tried to use the wipers the next day but it was a no go. So I removed the two screws in the bottom of the steering column cover and pipes the top cover off and saw that the wiper stalk connector was disconnected.

Happy to find this thread . . . :o

So yesterday the wifey and I had the Copperhead out for some long overdue road time running with the South Florida VOA group. On the way back home we encountered an unexpected rain shower. I turned on the wipers . . . NOTHING!

This morning I checked the fuses . . . All good. Then I logged on here and did a search. This tread popped right up! Following the information here, I pulled the cover panel off from under the steering column and there was the wire connector just hanging there. I removed the plastic bottom and top cover piece around the steering column and found where the connector should go. I used a cable tie around the steering column and around the wiring harness to "raise up" the harness because there was too much tension on that connector. Then I used another cable tie to "tie in" the connector as the little red locking device on it did nothing. I didn't want that connector to come loose again.

Many thanks for the the information posted here. The Viper is fixed / washed / dried / vacuumed / pulled back under the house / and covered up again!

Looking forward to NVE4 in Miami next year! NVE3 in Las Vegas was a BLAST! Hope to see a big turnout next year! See you there!
