"Latest Clutch Options From Bad Boyzz Garage for Your Dodge Viper - Buyers Guide"

I'm Todd Gomez owner-operator of Bad Boyzz Garage and would like to formerly introduce myself to the Viper Owners Association's members, enthusiasts and viewing Viper owners. I'd like to create a Viper owners "Go-to-Buyers Guide" for all clutch options we've developed and engineered for all model year Vipers. We at Bad Boyzz Garage (BBG) have been building our Twin Disc Clutch Kits for the Viper since 2006' when purchasing a new SRT Viper Coupe and quickly realized Dodge had not improved upon or fixed Viper's clutch issues for their track inspired Coupe, which was built basically as SRT's first club racer. So I went to work in my Garage with my partners at RAM and started our BBG Viper program. With the introduction of Vipers hard top and current G4/G5 power plants, clutch technology has never been more important to Viper.

Chrysler partnered up with us back in 2009'-2010' when I approached them to develop and build headers for their new ACR-X race program, which set the stage to introduce our clutch technology to SRT engineering. After some serious R&D and destruction testing with Chrysler, SRT Motorsport's (formerly DMS Racing) Dick Winkles, Matt Bejnarowicz and Gary Johnson approved BBG as the official clutch manufacturer and clutch service center for the Dodge Viper Cup Race Series, the ACR-X Clutch Kit was born! This provided us a platform to prove our motorsports performance capabilities to Chrysler and gain the confidence of the Viper Nation. During this period we were asked by SRT's Dick Winkles to build prototype billet flywheels for the new G5 Viper development program, which now run a BBG inspired factory installed aluminum flywheel. Another opportunity developed with Mopar Performance who inlisted BBG in 2012' to engineer and prototype a competition clutch kit for powertrain development and evaluation testing for a future high performance Challenger platform (The Hell Cat). We learned alot working directly with Chrysler on these projects and can proudly say, our BBG clutch kits passed every factory destruction test Chrysler ran them through!

Our clutch kits ran a 7:03 in a Kuno Wittmer piloted ACR-X at Nurburgring and raced the Targa Newfoundland with Ralph Gilles in his factory prepped ACR-X and have tasted the asphalt at many top US road courses and abroad Internationally by our growing customer base.

BBG clutch kits are available for many applications, like our Pro-series road race "Ultra Light 7.25" Triple Disc Assault Weapon" to our "Forced Induction 10.5" Triple Disc G5 Race Kits" all with our light pedal action technology engineered into every system. We've learned a lot over the years working with our diverse customer base in the motorsports industry from team owners, crew chiefs, manufacturer and the privateer who consider BBG as the go-to company for technical advise, application specialist and for correct fitment. We specialize and manufacture other Viper products and will start additional tech threads moving forward.

First on the list for "Bad Boyzz Garage Go-to-Clutch - Buyers Guide" is our G5 OE Replacement Kit. This clutch was developed and introduced to Chrysler at a Daytona Viper Cup race and made quite an impression with SRT which moved the G5 aluminum flywheel talks forward. On final development SRT was most helpful to us knowing that G5 customers were going to start tracking their Vipers and a good clutch kit was needed.. With confidence in BBG, SRT said yes!

Our goal is to keep this thread a True-Buyers Guide for Viper owners who are looking for technical advise and data, specific applications, correct fitment and to ask questions when considering options during your decision and purchasing process and who are highly considering running a BBG clutch kit. So "No High Jacking of this Thread will Be Allowed" with do respect. More clutch options will be updated on a regular basis for all model year Vipers, so feel free to inquire if you have specific questions or application needs.

Here are some good videos of "durability testing" the BBG clutch. This is a dual-disk system with aluminum flywheel in my Gen 3. I've always used Ram clutches in my project vehicles, and BBG/Ram make a great team and product.

What's interesting Nine Ball, is that your actually running a modified version of our ACR-X clutch that would be considered our street / track set up deep into 9 seconds.. The new triple disc clutch we built for your Drag Viper is all business and should definitely be good for that lower et your zero'd in on!!

For those that are not familiar or aware, we a building an all new "Forced Induction Triple Disc" Viper Race Clutch that's engineered for Super Charged and Turbo Charged applications (1000 to 1500 HP capacity). We'll be featuring Tonys clutch here on BBG's Go-to Buyers Guide thread soon with application and fitment info..

We're actually less than a SRT G5 factory clutch. When replacing a factory clutch it's a must to replace the flywheel. Why one may ask, because the quality and construction of the steel insert promotes cracking and mushrooming.. Definitely not the quality of our prototype billet flywheels we built for the G5 development program and not comparable to our G5 competition clutch kits.

You might want to consider our competition HRB's and our new adjustable clutch pedal stops as well when upgrading you clutch system.

SSGNRDZ,

I've updated the specification list below with additional info to answer your good questions. To add, your clutch will feel very similar to the stock G4 clutch, with just a bit shorter pedal modulation (stroke) for cleaner shifts and a very street able feel. A slight adjustment in pedal modulation when engaging 1st gear will be your learning curve since we're lighter and run twin sprung race discs in our systems, which are extremely smooth. Our clutch kits are kinda deceptive at first impression because the pedal effort is so light compared to others.. Until you rev up your engine, drop the hammer and run your transmission though the gears, then it becomes clear why a well engineered clutch is so important to connect driver/vehicle input.

Our G5 clutch kits are 23% lighter than OE G4 factory clutch & flywheel set-ups. It's not just the reduced rotating mass that counts here, its how we reduce rotating mass that is most important. Oddly enough you can have a heavier component achieve moment of inertia (MOI) quicker than a slightly lighter component..

We rate this kit good for 600-1100 torque capacity, being extremely driver friendly and will outlast several set of race slicks between service intervals. Usually the first responses from our clients is - the clutch is surprisingly much lighter than anticipated!! Which always is a good thing..

Our Bad Boyzz Garage Viper Competition HRB's are a modular kit that can be adapted to fit any of our clutch set-ups. CNC'd from T6 billet stock, performance seals, fully adjustable stack heights, serviceable precision bearing kit and hard anodized coating to ensure machine quality finished surface. I personally set-up every HRB kit before shipping with the proper stack height required for application.

This is our Bad Boyzz Garage Viper G4/G5 Ultra Light 7.25" Triple Disc Assault Weapon - Road Race Clutch Kit.. Notice that the "Flywheel" is lightened substantially over the G3 fitment with the timing ring delete..

This set-up was run throughout the entire 2013' NARRA race season in Keith Prosiuk's G4 powered Viper to a US/TT1 Championship Victory. The clutch pictured below is Keith's 2014' race clutch that I just finished today. Before shipping out to Archer Racing who race preps his Viper, I took a few pictures to share with the Viper Nation what hopefully will be the wining clutch again ths year and to show what care goes into building our BBG 7.25" road race clutch kits!!
