Truck leases?

Anyone leased a RAM 2500 or F-250 as of late?

My BMW 335i lease is up soon and I am thinking switching to a truck. Has the benefit of hauling stuff + towing Viper.

With the crazy prices on used trucks, I am looking at leasing something. I keep working out lease numbers that seem to be really low, a $63,000 RAM truck is coming out to a $450/m lease, which seems insane (hard to finding residuals on 2500's) - but since dealers are marking them down $12,000 off MSRP, the leases are just so low it seems.

I'm in the same boat as you. Looking at F350 6.7 SRW to replace my daily driver and my Excursion, going from 2 vehicles to 1. The leases out right now are very appealing, and for what I have found, been for the 2014s. The 2015s with bigger turbo, are most likely what the dealers are clearing the lots for. I am just having a hard time pulling the trigger knowing there is something more powerful and more reliable coming out.

Yeah, it's a national deal and I saw the commercial on TV. Called a couple of dealers and found the truck I wanted. Brought it home yesterday.

The used market is thru the roof. Get this, I have a standing cash offer from a neighbor on my 01 Excursion 7.3 4x4 for $1,000 more than what I paid for it 2.5 years ago!

Great for running around town or jumping your neighbors flower bed, not a good choice for hauling or trailering anything significant. Raptor is on a short wheel base and a F150 platform.

It is fine for towing a car like the OP plans too. The S/CREW can tow 8k, the S/CAB can tow 6k.

I have owned all brands of trucks since 05! I can tell you my every day truck is a 10 Power Wagon 4dr, 4x4, 2500 that will go anywhere or climb anything. I bought it new and had plans of pulling the viper, But, it's NOT a tow vehicle at all. So before you buy anything hook it to a trailer on the test drive and check into the mpg's! I get 9 mpg and can't pull more then 5k comfortably! But I wouldn't give it up for anything, it's the most awesome truck I have ever owned...

The 1500 V8 trucks tow very well. I used to only run diesels, but I had a 32' long enclosed trailer back then. If using an open trailer, I'd stick with the cheaper 87 octane drinking gasser. Plus, you can buy a Ram Sport that matches your white Viper. :)

Unfortunately, no. I have some race ramps to decrease the angle some.

Like I said, anything significant. Thought the OP was looking at something a little more HD like the 250s and 2500s. I personally don't like being at the upper end of the towing capacity. It's the brakes that I worry about, not if it will tow it in a line. It's what your comfortable with.

I drove two diesel trucks for a total of 4 years and over 40,000 miles. Paid 31000 for the first truck and got 31000 trade in on the second truck. Diesel is the way to go. If you don't need a long bed the mega cab is great. It folds down in the second row like no other truck and gives you an SUV sized flat area. If you need to haul something and keep it covered there is no match for it.

+1 on the megacab. My '06 gives me 20 mpg towing the race car and you don't even know it is back there. As you point out, tools etc. can be stored behind the seats or with seats folded down it is almost like having another covered storage area. I had a hemi-quad cab that I really liked but when towing it got pretty poor mileage and the transmission was not happy pulling in 5th gear. I would do it but not much torque at 2000 rpm - not a problem with a diesel. I am looking forward to the 3.0 diesel in the 1500. It got the Dodge, I mean Ram, another TOY award.

Joel, the new Ram V8 trucks have 8-speed transmissions. My '13 tows much better than the '06 Hemi I previously had. Honestly though, if you aren't towing all the time, the gasser is a better choice. I might tow a car less than 8 times per year, the rest is just driving around. The pre-2007 diesels are still better, no DPF fluid crap or emissions restrictions. My '06 dually pulled 21 mpg average, pre-DPF era.

Nineball. I have owned an 06 5.9, an 08 6.7 with no Dpf, an now a 13 with the Dpf. I will say that all were good and each had its benefits. The Dpf is good in that there is no re gens so far. Plus the power is great even with 3.42 gears and an auto. The 08 was good for what it was. The 5.9 with a six speed and 3.73 got me around 19 to 20 mpg. Problem with living in the rust belt is that if you are not trading every few years you trucks gets looking bad rather quickly. Otherwise I would still be in my old 5.9. To address the low 200 per month payment. It ends up costing about 8000 over two years. My diesel truck won't lose that much money over that time and mileage. Once you make the initial investment diesel seems to make a better investment. IMO.

I had the same problem. In my zip code it offer 317 per month and only 317 down. Some regions list the down payment different and thus affects the monthly payment. However from my quick search and math they all end up to be around 7,900 total for the two years.

You cannot build the $199 deal. Just look on the attached pic and look at your local dealers inventory for a matching truck. Or, print this page out and walk into the dealership, that's what I did.
