Thinking about buying this viper, any one have any info on it? Is 24k miles a lot for a viper? Its suppose to be a 2004 srt10. How much would be a good price for this viper? They want 43k which I think is high. It's a dealership

That isn’t a lot of miles for a 2004 Viper. Pretty low mileage actually. If you can post a link to the listing, that would be helpful.

For reference, I bought my 2005 Yellow Viper with 14,000 miles for $38,000 private party. Yellow is much rarer than red, and usually priced higher. Dealerships are always going to overprice Vipers. Gen 3 Vipers are wicked good value for the price usually, but 43k seems a little steep for me. You should be able to negotiate if you’re in a good financial place to buy quickly.

It should be said however that since Vipers aren’t being made anymore, prices are going up and will likely continue to do so. I’m not an expert on Viper pricing but I saw an upwards trend, which is why I bought my Viper quickly when I saw prices begin to rise. Dealerships advertising similar yellow Vipers to the one I bought wanted on average about 5k more than I spent. Mine is crazy pristine and without any real mechanical issues. Just the regular issues like oil cooler lines and window regulators.

Thank you for your input, i have always loved vipers but i hate convertibles and its red, not the color i want. Idk if I'll be happy with a viper which is not the right color or the right body style or even the right year I've wanted...

I was thinking 38k should be the price I should be looking at. At least I could buy a hard top for it and do a vinyl wrap on it to make it more to my liking.

Buy the car you want. Else you'll want to sell and purchase the car you actually want at a later date.

I may be missing something here, but based on all of your stated preferences, why not wait for the car that suits you tastes perfectly...such as a 2006 Coupe in any color but red ? By the time one invests in a hard top and wrap, the extra $$$ spent will be significant...all for your other-than-first-choice.

There are plenty of great cars out there...be patient.

Generally, connecting with your Regional club can be quite helpful in finding leads to good, known cars.

...and there's the rub. You probably can't be picky trying to find a viper in Hawaii. The pictures look good...lots of tire shine.

Is there a write-up on what to look for in 3rd gen Vipers? If not, is there anything I should be concerned about with this year? I guess the convertible would make it a little bit easier to install a full cage into...

I would recommend whatever car you get is put on a lift and you have a very competent Viper mechanic look at it. That will be one obstacle in itself , but going over to Hawaii you need to get things handled before it is sent. I would listen to folks like Steve-Indy, and feel free to contact me if you want a Vin number pulled?

Good luck, but take your time , as there are very few Snakes in our 50th State. What island are you one over there?

Is it normal for a engine swap in a car with less then 14k miles on it?

:smilielol:

There is zero proof that yellow sells for more than red. In fact, yellow is usually harder to move and priced the same or less than the other colors.
