Great holiday party at Cable and Sara's home last night!

Until I went outside to leave and noticed that someone had hit my rear end.

If you have any info regarding this, or may have seen something, please PM me.

Thanks, Andy

Damn Andy, that sucks. I just went out to the garage and did a walk around of my viper. No damage. Is your damage on both sides?

Just the rear left area was hit. I was parked right in front of the house, with no one in front of or behind me.

Dropped it off to Eddie today so we’ll see what options there are for repair.

It does suck when you try to keep your car in good shape and then some ass hits it and runs.

Sorry to see this Andy, you would think the ass could at least leave a note at a minimum. Just don’t understand people sometimes.

Did you put in a report with the Police? Could be important if you need to chat with your Insurance Company?

Thanks Bill and good point. I haven't done that yet but certainly will.

Your car will be doomed / tainted on CARFAX forever..... maybe fix the damage quietly? Diminished value could exceed the damage cost!

Also; it looks to me as if the rear bumper has already been repaired/repainted! Eddie will know. Was there already CarFax damage notes? Even so, you dont want to add to the misery?

Sorry to see. Any VIDEO in neighborhood ??? Ring-Ring!

Thanks, Jon. I was thinking that way as well. There is no previous damage that I'm aware of. I think you may be seeing the clear coat that was scraped when it was hit.

Lesson learned about a dash cam that I bought but never installed. It may not have been able to capture a hit from the rear, but maybe it would have shown the car/truck that drove away (with a license plate number).

This whole thing sucks.

Jon B also has a good point , and it could affect the car to a degree. The issue will come down to the cost of the repairs , but I would probably fix it myself , also , if the figure is reasonable. The one key is to take a bunch of pictures of the damage, and have a file of it for future reference, since now that the damage is recorded ( though only on this site), there are those that will remember the hit and run if you attempt to sell it here? I would look into both options, and make your decision from there , as it will decrease the value to many once it is listed on Carfax/Autocheck, but then the same will occur with many when you disclose the information during a sale. The pictures will help you get over the hump , as it will appear to many to be relatively minor.

Thanks for your advice and input. The damage is purely cosmetic and the scrapes are limited to the surface only, which will probably just require some touch up and repainting. I just posted to express my disappointment at the way some people just don't take responsibility for their actions. I'll probably just handle the cost of the repairs myself, and won't have to worry about any decrease in value since I will never sell it.

Was this a Club event? Wouldn't that be covered by the VOA?

+1, unless you are planning on keeping it forever then it doesn't matter.....but if you ever want to sell it, like the carfax commercial says..."show me cars with no accidents", potential buyers may never even see your car because of this, no matter how nice. When I was selling my Ferrari with a small carfax incident, much like yours, certain dealers didn't even want to touch it because of the carfax, others gave such low offers, I was almost forced to keep it, only private parties were interested that could look at it for what is was, no big deal, but your market will be limited.

Great question.

Yes, it was a club event, so the VOA should be able to cover this. I have a call into our president regarding this issue.

So was it a club member? Crazy a fellow owner would do something like that and not report it.

If they are, they have Viper Race Yellow all over their front right bumper. I will never know since the driver hit and ran.

Unfortunately, I will never know...but knowing our club members, I seriously doubt it. Our club is very tight. Am thinking that maybe it was a truck or something that miscalculated the turning radius.

Nah...don't think so. But appreciate your theory about a rabid canine. That was funny.

Hey, and let me know when you get hit, so I can return the humor.

just sayin, I would look around for a pattern, seems like its got the same exact scars from a previous bump in both places!

We were at a members house which is located on a cul-de-sac. The entire street only has 6 houses and they're all 3-4 million dollar homes. I highly doubt any home owners or club members did it. There were a number of workers at the event. There was a catering staff and we were playing some casino games with fake money...there were outside dealers for the gaming tables. My guess would be it was one of the hired workers, but I have NO proof...just thinking out loud.

It was pretty dark, but I’m curious about that as well.

My recall is that club members have limited liability coverage, and zero automobile coverages.

So if a member trips you, assaults you, or the host gives you E-Coli laden lettuce, you have some coverage. But car insurance is car insurance....not furnised by the club.

Id like to be corrected if I'm wrong !

I think I’d take some of that E-Coli lettuce over this hit and run.
