Had a great track weekend, broke two more http://nasaprorarcing.com track records! One in TT1 class with my mostly stock ACR and one in the TTU (Unlimited) class in my Prefix 9 liter car. The first day we were running in a configuration that I already had the TT1 record in, so I didn't bring my ACR. There was a really bad 6 car wreck the first day, and the fluid spill was so bad they were not able to clean it up enough to safely run the "fast" configuration, so today, Sunday they had to switch to the older configuration which was good for me as I'd never have been able to have a chance to break the track records in that config. Anyway I ended up breaking the old TTU record (which was held by a Comp Coupe) by 1.9 seconds! Mad props to my incredible wife for driving down my ACR at 6AM on Hoosiers on the freeway after blasting her phone once I found out about the configuration change. If anyone has driven a Viper on Hoosiers with 335's up front on the freeway you know what she had to go through to get the car to me instead of enjoying her Sunday morning sleep in like the rest of the world! Anyway, this is only my 3rd event with the 9 liter car, still getting used to the gearing compared to the ACR. The car is ferocious and scary and the track today "Main Track" at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Track is one of the most dangerous scary tracks in the world. About half of the Nasa members skip this event due to the danger. Every event there are at LEAST 2-3 cars that get totaled. The straight is the NHRA drage race straight and the surface is sketchy with concrete inches from you around most of the track. The old TTU record was 1.03.952, I ran a 1.02 flat. I've currently got 9 Nasa track records, I think more than anyone in the country, I'm pretty proud of that, yeah it's just amateur racing, but I've done this all on my own, learned everything on my own, I've slowly done mods/testing on these cars and found out what works and doesn't. Making these cars faster is what I enjoy the most, just the engineering/mods side of it. Not very many Viper's show up anymore, the fast cars are all Porsche Cup Cars, GT3's and monster Vette's etc. Shoutout to my buddy Neil (NRS1 here on the forum) who kicked some butt this weekend as well in his GTS! Pics below!!! That's my 16 year old son's Civic Type R (An amazing car!!!!) The 2nd and 3rd pic you can see the difference between the stock ACR splitter extension and Doug Shelby's custom extension (I had him make one in between the stock size and his biggest version)

Congrats! Not everyone has the coin/ stones to run Gen Vs to the limit like you do, so it's fun to see what they can do at the extreme limit!
Hell, I am even digging the Type R, I think it's a great car and would love to have one!

Nice one AZ. Keep em' coming buddy! I've got a track day on Friday on one of the very few unlimited noise restriction track days they run so hopefully will give the 9.0 a nice shakedown to see how she goes. Until I get my custom muffler sorted in January that is to be able to run hopefully a bit quieter. The oem muffler is basically a central straight pipe with only about 10 tiny perforations in total that barely allow the sound waves to interact with the available sound deadening material, which is why its relatively loud and doesn't restrict at all, so I'm hoping that the proper custom muffler will make it quiet enough to get on track without sapping much power...

It is so cool to see the Viper perform so well in the hands of a self taught amateur. Do you run in the same track day circles as CJ Wilson? I ask because I know he has some connections to AZ, and used to own and ACR. His thread on RL is actually what made me buy mine. Wondering if you dick stomping all these records makes him regret selling his, haha.

Fantastic!!! Great to see this car continue to be developed by some talented folks that can get the most out of these cars. I've always said that FCA seems to have left us with a "work in progress" as it relates to the ACRs. Take it from the showroom floor, throw on some slicks, and give it a bit more hp, and you have a legitimate racecar that likely can't be beat.

You are a great contribution to the Viper Nation, not only do you go out there and put your Vipers at the top edge of their potential, you sit down and share it with the rest of us. Pleased that you do and hope we continue to receive reports on your efforts.

Man i really hope that works out for you, that will suck if you can't run all the tracks in your area. One way or another I'm sure you guys will figure something out!

Great work AZ!!! I can believe 2-3 cars get totaled there every event, so much tight concrete walls! Takes big balls and a big bank account to run super fast there, you've got both!!

Nice job Cable! Wish I could have been there, but I was stuck in Vegas. I was at WHP the previous weekend (Proautosports) and they totaled a C6 Grand Sport track car on the main portion of the Mondo track. Tough place. Was that the race group that had the big wreck?

I don't have big bank accounts, not anymore! Not after tracking for the last couple of years LOL. Believe it or not i am taking it easy there, where necessary. So the cars have a lot more in them. Coming around the tower turn before the drag strip, I'm pretty much the slowest car out there and I'm very conservative all the way down the strip. Put it this way, my top speed was actually faster in the stock ACR due to being afraid to get on it in the 9 liter. The problem is the NHRA puts down the sticky compound, but it wears off. So one of your tires might get grip, then the other one doesn't. Front wheel drive cars kick ass there they don't have much to fear. The owner of Nasa AZ runs a 1400lb civic with 330whp and at times can beat my ACR

Yeah, race group. So one car hit the wall coming through Concrete Canyon, and there's a blind turn before that so the next FIVE cars hit him. Everyone was fine, everyone in race has cages, halo seats, hans, etc.
The next day I was instructing my son in DE2 and got a red flag 2nd lap. A WRX hit the wall HARD by the fence on the paddock where people watch. My wife was sitting there on the bench and had to dive on the ground his rear bumper and HELMET flew over the 15' high fence and almost hit her. When your helmet comes out your side window and shoots up over a 15' fence 20 feet from the wall you hit, you know you screwed up bad. LOL He's ok though.

Jesus....that sounds like it could have been bad. I've never heard of a helmet coming off a head that wasn't attached to it.
Glad everyone is ok.

Very nice work and congratulations on the track records. Makes you wonder why they even run on a track that is clearly that dangerous. I remember a track in New Mexico (Sandia) that was also pretty dangerous, enough so that the SCCA would not certify the track to run on it.
