So I was cruising on the highway at about 85mph in fourth and the car started stumbling bad like spark plugs were pulled then the check engine light started blinking and the car shut down but I was still in gear so it was trying to restart then started backfiring and shaking so I pushed in the clutch and coasted off the next exit ramp. When I tried to start it the car wouldn't fire. So I let it sit for about 20mins to cool off and tried to start it one more time and it fired right up and ran smooth again. The car has 1500mi and this is a weird thing to happen to a new car. Anyone else have this happen? My dealer said it may have went into limp mode for some reason and wants me to bring it in Monday to check it.

I thought in limp mode the car still runs but with default settings so the car can "Limp Along" and still be drivable...
Could be wrong thought....

Reading this stuff makes me feel angry; hope it was just a fluke.

Scan it and see what code tripped

Yes you can self diagnose right on the steering wheel; if it says "no diagnostic codes at this time" then definitely take to dealer

If the check engine was flashing, hopefully it stored a code. Should be able to pull that code off the dash menus. Could be hundreds of things that might cause it, the code would help ID the issue.

I will check the self diagnose on the wheel, but I am still bringing it to the dealer tomorrow, I will keep you posted

Checked self diag. and it said no code stored. Did act like water in the gas but I had been driving around all day getting on it and it ran very good till then and after it started back up.
Why is it every time I start to really think about making a move on a gen5, a post like this happens.
Please keep us apprised. Thanks for sharing and good luck.

No code is very weird! Mine threw a multiple misfire code during an auto x last year and I was able to see the code on the DIC. The check engine light went off 200 miles later after I drove home and I never felt the stumble.
Good luck and keep us posted!

The diagnostic center only shows hard codes related to environmental issues. A scan tool may show other related codes.

Yeah I'm aware; still worth doing. Plus avoiding most of these dealers is a blessing if possible

As Jack B mentioned the DIC only shows hard codes. Get a scantool and see what the actual code is. I'm willing to bet it was a MAF related code. (a gnat probably farted in China and it caused your engine to stumble. Yes, the MAFs are THAT sensitive on our cars)
I've spent a LOT of time learning the MAF on these cars - and to say the least, I'm surprised it works as well as it does from the factory!

Curious: Were you using cruise-control? [ Im Assuming the TA has CC ? ]

UPDATE**** The dealer was very accommodating taking their only Viper tech immediately to diag. it and they contacted SRT immediately. There were no codes and the car has been running fine. There was nothing found wrong with the car but want me to monitor it and let them know if anything else weird happens, hopefully it was a fluke out of parameter thing...its actually running very good now so we will see. And no I wasn't using cruise control.

Obvious problem, you weren't driving the car hard enough ;)

A flashing check engine light means a miss fire was detected.

Flashing CEL means a Catalyst Damaging misfire was present, and it was cutting injectors to help try to pinpoint a cylinder. Could you happen to smell a sulfur odor? (raw fuel igniting in the cat)

remember the 08 cars first came out, the cam sensor issues and reflash of computers? no big deal, they will fix it if its a problem

Sometimes weird occurrences disappear on their own; hopefully this is one of those
