Greetings all! Been seriously considering moving from my GEN III vert over to a GEN III or IV Coupe. I love my car but always wanted a coupe. The thing that has me up in the air is the actual driving experience. In my opinion, the vert experience is awesome. This is the first vert I've ever owned so I'm not really partial to them one way or the other. For those of you who have owned both, how much more brutal is coupe experience? Things like noise, heat, claustrophobia in the cabin, visibility... I feel like the vert really hides some of these things (I drive top down 99% of the time) and the coupe may not. Things that I really like about the coupe are the looks, better storage (maybe I can get 2 sets of golf clubs in there?), and the fact that I could actually use the A/C in the summer time without having to put the ugly canvas top up!

This is not a vert vs. coupe argument... really just looking for folks who have spent some time in each weighing in on the differences!

Thanks in advance!

-Nate

If you don't mind removing and installing a hardtop when you want the look, you could have the best of both worlds. Autoform has a coupe rear end kit for the verts that looks pretty damn good.

I did this a few years back. For me it was the shape of the coupe body that I loved. The lines flow wayyyyy better on the rear of the coupe.

It’s not that difficult of a project. Just a bunch of little pieces that you will need to hunt down. This will help you.

Nate, I like the looks of a coupe much better than a vert, and I like a striped coupe more than solid. Stripes on a vert are broken up by the top and don't look as good. Also, I tracked my G3 & G4 coupes and didn't street drive them that much.

From your comments, stick with your viper as a vert. Nothing like top down. I've re-discovered the joy in driving my old G1, open top, fresh air lots of external sounds. All my coupes, G2/3/4, seemed small and tight inside. In each I added red panels or seats to break up that all black interior which made the cars feel smaller.

As for the golf clubs, the trunk well is pretty much the same and the room in a coupe under the glass, isn't a place to store anything, it will launch forward under braking.

In my opinion, the hardtop is great for the track or great for someone in shitty weather. Since your in TX don't bother, they look nice but the coupe lines are much nicer. Ask someone to drive or go for a ride in a coupe and see what you'll be missing from the open top experience. Good luck!! Mike

My feelings exactly on the look... to my eye there's nothing better than a coupe with stripes. Maybe it isn't worth giving up the open air driving experience for though... such is my dilemma.

I can only get 1 set of golf clubs in mine, but that works fine for me! Looks good rolling up to the club house!

Thanks for the feedback! I've followed some of those conversion threads and I agree that it does look pretty damn good. I don't think it's the route I want to go, though. I think i'd prefer to either stick with the drop top or just go all-in with a coupe.

Oh yeah there are 2 weeks a year where it’s not snowing(today), raining, or so hot you can’t breath. If I get lucky I’m not traveling for business those weeks...

Thanks I had a hard time finding the silver, black, and red combo. I was on the hunt for either this or the white black red. The white black and red never did present itself for me to make an offer. I’m all good now:)
